    Hi Avon,

There's a local radio station near here thats low power. I could hear it when driving home from work.

I think it has you beat on variety. <GRIN>

I don't think you play many polkas!

    Cool mascots.

    Take care,

Years ago I used to play an automated stream into Shoutcast that did very
well 24/7! My competition was WOLF-FM who seemed to have multiple servers
at various datacenters so he could host a lot more listeners. After a while
I put on a very small FM transmitter meant for car usage on the feed server. Being that it was high up in the attic however I had some decent "ERP" and often caught cars driving by with their windows down jamming my station :)

That was pretty cool to hear.

Bahahahaha... that's gold thanks for sharing.... what I am listening to now sounds like I should be sipping a drink in the lizard lounge and looking for
a James Bond bad guy to come walking in..... it also reminds me of the start

I'm using a mix of Rivendel for playout then into software called Sonos to
send the audio to the TX site over about a 5km line of sight RF link, another copy then processes it and feeds it into a Broadcast Warehouse TX5 which
feeds a dipole up on top of multi-storied building on a hill that overlooks Dunedin. I run 1 watt and can get about 8km or 5 miles approx .. line of
    sight.

I've been feeding the audio over icecast server for a few years now too.

Did you ever provide an https:// .m3u link for the stream?

I can put the links that wzig.org provides into iTunes and it
plays well. iTunes is on the XP pc that has the external
    speakers that I use.

San Francisco had a couple of pirate stations. Pirate Cat radio was one I listened to when I was in the Mission District. Good times.

We need more terrestrial pirate stations. I want to be able to put a station in a Pelikan case with a solar cell and a Pi and be able to transmit to it remotely.

They have legal licenses for LPFM (Low Power FM) stations. I don't know what exactly is involved with them. My TX was a small in-car usage only TX but because of how high I had it, the ERP was raised. I would say I had about a block radius coverage area... not much but enough for me to enjoy my stuff
with a pair of FM headphones while I did yard work. This was before the bluetooth days.

The fact that others did enjoy it from time to time was kinda cool.

I can see it from my end, was curious to see if there was something in
between me and the listener and wanted to compare cert info from the client.

On a side note, I understand the need for SSL packet inspection, but posing
as a man in the middle to do network security just feels wrong.

One thing I just noticed, why is SSL/TLS being enforced when it's NOT httpS? That may be my end, not sure. It should have come up via XMMS but it did not. In fact, I didn't even get a connect attempt for some reason.
