This past weekend was the World of Commodore show here in Toronto. In the
90s, the WOC would draw thousands of people to a massive convention center, today it gets about a hundred people and it's run by the local Commodore user group.

I picked up a nearly immaculate Commodore SX-64 portable C64 unit. This thing is awesome. I've spent the past few days playing Bards Tale 3 off of a 5.25" floppy.

I also picked up an Amiga 1000 and a Vectrex unit to add to my retro collection, although neither as cool as the SX-64.

I'm really surprised at the condition it is in, the previous owner really babied it. I even got the manuals and the velvet bag that it came with.

I am experiencing a high pitched whine when it is on. I have to track down

I am green with envy! Breadbox C64 got me through college with the Commodore plotter I used to print off my assignments. Now...have a C64 Mini which I'm going to eventually hook up to RCA projector in the living room with a 102" screen on the wall. Even ended up with c64 & Amiga Forever.

I also picked up an Amiga 1000 and a Vectrex unit to add to my retro collection, although neither as cool as the SX-64.

Had a 500 back in the day. Sold it to a buddy of mine when I got divorced. Now...I wished I had sold her & kept the Amiga. Guess which one would be of more value to all of us here? ;)

I am an avid Commodore collector. Now that I have added the SX-64 and 1000 to my collection, I am only missing the Amiga 3000. It is the one machine I

Definitely about the cost. On the other hand,,,the best thing is being able

Set up Amibian...but the core is rather old. It will be nice when the newest version comes out of beta. Will use my3B+ to set it up.

Yeah...retail blows...but at least Oregon has laws in place which forces companies to post the schedule at least a week beforehand & eventually two weeks soon. Makes companies mad that they are forced to treat their employees by allowing them to have a life.

Just found out today that the last week of the month is having me working in
a department I'm not employed in. At least I get to work about 35 hrs a week. Bad part is many at the store have no idea where the department is or what it does.

The one thing I regret is not being smart enough in science to have had
a better life or moved out of the US before Ronald Reagan screwed things up

I think retail blows anywhere in the world. I worked retail for years while I was at University and they always pull last minute bullshit that essentially forced you to work or loose your job. The would change up the schedule on you last minute. The only benefit we had was if they called you in on the day of and you wern't scheduled to work, they would have to either provide you with
4 hours worth of work or pay you at least 4 hours worth of work.

They have pulled this garbage a few times. That's why I put my schedule on my phone to have it uploaded to Google's server. This way...they can't screw

If you want to compile it on a 68k Amiga running WB 3.x, then you can grab
the needed build essential packages for whatever it's written in over on AmiNet.

If you want to compile it on the PowerPC chipset on OS 4, then you need the
SDK which is up on the OS 4 site.

Tip of the hat. I have spent the past 21 years working as a Staff Rep
    for a private sector union!

When I was a teacher's aide in Colorado...joined the teacher's union. Come to find out we had a student whose mother loved to sue school districts as her job...so had access to a lawyer if I needed one.

At another school...come to find out that that union was more for the
teachers than it was for support staff. That's why I'm in Oregon and slaving away in retail...rather than education.

In this respect...I wasted my time & money supporting the union. If any other union were like this...probably wouldn't join. Want someone covering my back
    to protect my interests.

I do have amiga forever, and commodore64 forever or what ever it's
called. It's good but I don't presently have a windows setup, and was
hoping I could use one of my spare pis. I do use it for the roms though.

Maybe it was you that was a part of this conversation already, but someone mentioned that there are a couple of distros that emulate Amiga on a pi, if
I understood correctly... Ambian (I think) and maybe Amiberry (???).

It was interesting sounding but I don't have any spares right now so I did
    not take good notes. :)

I tell people all the time, the people are the union. It is only as good as those who are elected to run it. We have 1000s of locals across North
America. Some leadership is better than others. For the most part, those who don't do an effective job representing their members don't tend to last long.

Amiberry is an emulator that emulates the Amiga on a pi where Amibian is a
full distro for the pi that happens to use Amiberry.

Remember when the old man worked for Kennicott Copper & was in a union in
Utah in the 60's/70's...was a whole lot different than I was with the
teacher's union. In that union...weren't that many support staff...but the districts would usually force the teachers to join. Because of this...they were mainly concerned about the teachers...so the union was worth it.

I am experiencing a high pitched whine when it is on. I have to track down what is causing it. It is driving my kids mad.

You have seven minutes to reach minimum safe distance.

All of this worry and it turned out to be a ground hum. The outlet I
had the SX-64 plugged into didn't have a properly connected ground. Go
    figure.

Woops. My bad, flipped the wrong switch in my gateway config. That shouldn't happen again.
