I think it's great that the free software is free but you have to look out because those greedy companies want to make the Linux a paid app. If they ha their way we may never see Free Mystic 2038 because g00r00 will not be able afford the app submission fees to the Linux App Store. It's a damn shame to because as we all know information wants to be beer as in speech. That's jus my opinion though, and if you disagree you are a fucking bully picking on me tell you what.

It would be cool if we had a BBBS test server. Do you think it looks like Teleguard. Will it be paid on my Surface?

I certainly *want* to, but my schedule is probably terrible for another
2 - 4 mo nths. We should all get together, but I doubt if I'll have the freedom until la ter in the spring or closer to summer.
Not that I mean to crash this little GTA gathering but keep me in the loop and perhaps I can arrange a visit myself and squeeze into this little getogether. :)

Plenty of space for you and Stack.
That would be really cool! Let me know and if the stars align, I'm game
to make the trip.
The more the merrier whenever it happens. Where are you located?

Why I'm in the heart of the Ottawa Valley. :D It's like TO but we measure commute time in minutes not days and weeks.

Don't forget that your hockey team sucks as well, lol.
Woo buncha old bastards drinking around the table talking about BBS's and shit. Finally I'll be on the other side of those SysOp gatherings back in th 90's and I can drink. :)
The precious Leafs are no better...
Is it sad that I miss phil?
The precious Leafs are no better...
Well, yes, but it doesn;'t change the fact that the Senators suck. lol
He's good entertainment, and he's still kicking around. I haven't heard anything out of him for a while, but he was on IRC quite a bit in 2019.
Not that I'm much of a hockey fan but at least I can see the team if I
buy a ticket and not re-mortgage my house at the same time. :P
Technically I should be a Habs fan as that's the team that was cheered
in my house growing up. Made for great large family gatherings though, Leafs, Bruins and Habs fans in the same house at once. Honestly my team
if anything is the Spectators. :)

Where can I find this table of old guys? ;-)I wouldn't go as far as labeling us as old guys as I know for a fact
some of us are in our 40s, although if you ask my 22 or 13 years old, we are old.

Well, I guess we all have our faults, being a Habs fan in this case.

Hahaha, are you sure?
That would be fun... Who is drinking what? I drink stouts and darks... which a scotch on the side.
If you used a floppy while mainstream, you're officially old. If you
know how to dial pulse manually, you are definitely old. If you've struggled with more then 10 DIP switches while building a computer, you have one foot in the hole :) or vice and versa.
My 19, 17, 11 and 9 says I'm young :)

Yes to all.

Mine only say that when they want money.

Ohh I love a good Stout or Porter, am enjoying Glenfiddich 12 and Oban
14 at the moment.
Oban is nice! I enjoy Aberlour, Glenfarclas, Tomatin, and Kavalan but
I'm not super picky as there is usually something nice in most decent whiskeys.

Being a Torontonian and a Leafs fan, it is kind of in our DNA to chirp at Habs fans. It is subconscious, I didn't even realize I typed it, lol.

I enjoy chasing a scotch with a hoppy IPA.

Hehehe... yeah there is such things at times. Imagine then when you have a Leafs fan, driving a Ford and drinking Molson meeting an Habs fan, driving G and drinking Labatt. This can go south real fast, lol.

Hehehe, I like my scotch extra peaty, my wife calls it my glass-o-grass
:)
We even had some crazy laugh having Nick Offerman as a guest in my
living room (Google it's 10 hours scotch video on YT). It was really funny.
There is such a thing as "hometown pride" and being loyal to your team,
I understand that; but Leafs fans are completely insane and take it to
the next level. It is absolutely batshit crazy how mentally unstable
Leafs fans are.
They have not won a championship game since '67. Even when losing to a shitty hockey team they will absolutely throw a coniption fit. When Tampa Bay kicked their ass one year, a fan or two threw a jersey on the ice. I can only imagine if by some divine miracle the Leafs actually *win* the cup, the city will freaking riot and have a special touchy-feely "Leafs day".

I know for a fact that if they both drove by each other the world would collapse into a singularity. Kinda like what happens if you type Google into Google.
Hehehe, I like my scotch extra peaty, my wife calls it my glass-o-gra :)
Well, I love steak and if cows enjoy eating grass and I enjoy eating
steak therefore I should also enjoy grass. The peatier the better.

Hehehe, I really love seeing the face of my friends who drinks rhum. I start them with a smooth Talisker and finish them with a Dark Cove. I
love the look of their face :)
They're gonna have to move to another division that doesn't have
Boston in it before that happens... ;-)
Go Bruins.

I'm still haunted by 2013. I was rubbing in the fact that we were
going to win to a life long Bruins fan only to have Boston come
back in game seven after we were leading 4-1 heading into the
3rd. I'm still hearing about it.
Yeah, I hear ya. It's painful for all fans at various times. I
also am a lifelong Bruins fan who thought we had it in the bag
last year, but.... didn't. That's why they play the games. :-)
40s +: Scotch. Ahhh, why the fuck weren't we drinking this all this time.
I started into scotch when I was about 25 and haven't looked back. I,
uh, drank way too much of it way too often from when I was about 29 to
33. I now enjoy it at a more relaxed pace (most of the time).
See, you got it unlike the rest of us. My wife's boss is a massive Scotch snob. He has some awesome expensive ass shit at his house which spoils it when I have my usual $40-$60 a bottle scotch.
Most LCBOs have a middling selection, so unless I make a special trip
it's diffi cult to even find the expensive shit. I usually have
something in the $55 - $90 range on hand, and at least there are some decent options in that bracket. I'm a bit out of touch now and haven't
had much booze in the past year.
I regret that I didn't keep a journal of all the scotches I tried, and I may nee d to start all over again at some point. I'd love to be able to
go back through my notes and pick something to have again (or avoid).

We all have our faults.
See there I go doing it again, it's in my DNA to chirp at anyone
who isn't a Leafs fan.
My gf and I are DINKs (Dual Income No Kids) living on tech salaries and
we like scotch. Let's just say we've dropped a small fortune over the years. A typical favorite is Glendronach 18 Allardyce - delicious caramel-y Speyside.
My wife's boss does keep a journal and I thought he was nuts, but it really
does make sense. He is also that guy who goes on a pilgrimage to Scotland to
taste test at all the distilleries. What an asshole, lmao.
The journal (especially if kept online) would help me when I'm at the store and I can't remember which of the options I've tried before. Seven years ago I had all of that information in my head, but I haven't used
it in so long it's gotten rusty.
We could always start a journal. *shrug* Could be a fun coding project.
It would need to be BBS integrated, and post our reviews to the SciNet SCOTCH echo.

I thought I liked all dark beer until I had a home-made one that was too dark.
All the major brands (Heineken, Becks, St Pauli Girl, etc) taste great
to me, but I was at some restaurant in Albuquerque where they make their own beer, and I thought "the darker it is, the more it will taste like Guiness, and the more I will like it," but I was wrong! The waitress was nice enough to switch it for a lighter, more manageable one.
What's up with that stuff? I thought the dark color came from the roasting, not from the alcohol content.
I guess too extreme might not be always good. I prefer balance.
When you say balance, it makes me think about an IPA that we have in the states called "Sierra Nevada." It has a flavor that is on the extreme
side of pale ales, and that flavor strength is balanced with its alcohol content.

Sometimes cheap beer, like coors light, has weak flavor with seemingly high alcohol content; that's no way to enjoy a beer!
micro-brewery. I don't really have a goto beer, I like to try different stuff every time. Also, I don't drink much so when I drink one, I appreciate it :)
