I didn't know where to post this...

Theres a neat new open source project on git...

github.com/ggerganov/wave-share that I think lends itself to geeky BBS type users and...

So it uses sound as a peer-to-peer local file sharing 'server'... well, its serverless but....

You load the software and can share data (a web link or... an ANSI file? Thats what I'm working on getting to.... work.) thru freaking SOUND! The soundbits come in slow, fast and ultra-fast and sound very much like and old modem connection, minus the kkkkkshshhhhhhhtttttt part. The beeps and boops, tho; yes.

Check this out, you'll thank me later.
It's fun. It's neat. It's a proof of concept, although I dunno what the hell we'd actually use it for in the real world... I have an idea to use it to send ANSI's that I edit on my laptop to the BBS server. Yes, I know I have other ways to doso. No, those ways are not as cool as sending a modemy-like fucking SOUND thru my sonos speakers and 'catch' it at the BBS box. :P

Just go.... install... do ittttttt. :P

    wave-share 2o2o.
    (or at least end-of-november-2o2o-for-about-two-minutes-that-it-remains-cool-and-fun-and-GOA
    LREADY!)

    1)
Zoom has a product for conference rooms called Zoom Rooms. It allows easy connections to Zoom video conference from a TV/video camera/conference speaker controlled by a small computer like a mac mini. Anyways, you can simply hit "share" on the client on your laptop and it will instantly share to the TV in the conference room where you are. It figures out what room you are in, so you share to the correct TV, using ultrasonics.

    2)
There is proof of concept malware out there that uses sounds to transfer to/from air gapped computers.

So there you go, practical usage for this tech.

That is neat - and the wave-share project has an 'ultrasonic' mode; however I haven't been able to get that bit to work yet.
