I have the NES ROM that comes with Linux distros. I love it. I got the USB gamepads, all the game files, and it's sweet.
For the past 10 years or so, I've had all this shit. And what do I do? Play Double Dragon II every time. That game is the best!! And I still can't beat
There's like 200 or more games for NES. Which other ones have such a cool story behind them?
It was cool back in the old days, to rent the games & read the manual (which would have the plot to the game's story.)
If you don't know Double Dragon's story, it's something about 2 brothers, th good guys, one of them gets their girlfriend abducted by the bad guys, and the brothers fight like hell to get her back & get them off their streets.
Kinda deep, eh?
So what other Nintendo games have a cool story?
If you want a plt with a twist in your NES, there is always Final
Fantasy 1st.

Zelda for the win.
No Dragon Warrior? And its three maddingly complex sequels?

Zelda for the win.
Yeah, the original one. The one which could not be beaten without a
guide.
I got into Zelda on the SNES and ended up buying a 2DS in 2013 to play A LinkBetween Worlds which was an awesome game based on the same map as A Link to thePast.
I have spent countless hours playing Breath of the Wild on the switch. Hours Iwill never get back.

Double Dragon rocks but I don't think its story is that great. It is very conventional by today's standards.

writing of the software. Its worth a youtube search... 'the history of zelda' or 'the history of super mario 3'...
OMG, Dragon Warrior IV is one of the best RPGs ever! :P I love gold cartidge Zelda on NES, of course... but DW4 is a *close* 2nd!

I love DD2 and remember getting it new back in the 80s. 90s?
The NES version is the best, with substantially more changes and tweaks from the original along with two player simultaneous. PC-Engine CD (TurboDuo) is an interesting one. It's based on the NES port but with fairly different gameplay and all new graphics. I actually don't like it
as much as the NES version. (Just feels too loose and grindy.)

Yea the story is kinda generic but the game is fun.

Thanks for that suggestion. I read up on the story on Wiki. The story sounds similiar to a My Little Pony episode. (I have kids!) I bet MLP got the idea from Final Fantasy. I have a ROM of that game I will try it out..
Double Dragon II is great. It's a weird one, in that there's several similar, but not really the same games with the same name. The arcade version isbasically just Double Dragon with a new coat of paint and a
few control tweaks.
It's funny to me that at the time when it came out I was extremely annoyed with the control scheme. My child brain just couldn't wrap the whole punch forward, only kick back thing as a plus. I use to dislike Renegade in the arcade for the same reason. Now being a lot older and a little wiser, I get it know and it's quite enjoyable.

The "My child brain" part is just ripe for the picking.
Especially because it's not my child...
I seem to recall playing an original DD game on whatever the Sega console that predated the Genesis was. And I recall the game being awesome. I could be making this up but for some reason have a vivid memory here.
That'd possibly be the port of Double Dragon (1) to the Master System. A
Only other I can think of is a weird double dragon where you can get
guns and stuff for the Game Gear...
Guns in video games just make it better. If only I could get a gun in Super Mario Bros. It would make clearing all those mushrooms so much easier.
"Ancient God creates a being designed to punish her for her past
failures. The being soon escapes into the world of mortals and threatens to break havoc and turn the physical plane into an eternal nightmare.
Only six adventures can prevent such dire fate"
Fun trivia: SMB's original design had a gun.

MLP is pretty deep! There's a PC game called "Revenge of the Clockwork Stallions" that I downloaded for my daughter, but I became addicted and play the crap out of it until I got as far as I could.

They should have kept it. Stupid mushrooms.

Hey..Whoa...Hey, whoa, hey, whoa, HEY, WHOA, heeeeeeeeey whoa
Let's not say hurtful things here! No need to fly off the handle.
Mushrooms are quite good, and maaaaaybe they just make that world
make a little more sense, or even our world sometimes. :D

If I can't eat them I want to shoot them.
That sounds like an idea pulled from the Ponyfinder splatbooks.
If you are wondering, Ponyfinder is a system addon you can apply to Dungeonsand Dragons or Pathfinder, so you can play ponies that strap

I appreciate this lead, but I will have to say that I've never heard of Ponyfinder or Pathfinder. I will read up on this though in case it's somethi my kid my like.
Thanks.
"Consarn it, if I's can eat it, damnation Imma gonna shoot it!"

That is too long for a SLMR tagline, but I just saved it for multimail to use. :)
