The ad looks slick.
Thanks! You aint seen nuthin yet ;)
I can't wait. I love it when people take ownership of their shit and
don't just run a stock out of the box bbs.
And again, thank you very much for all the help. less than a month ago Mystic was completely unknown to me. My board would not be where it is without help from good SysOps such as yourself!

Have you considered putting up a site with ftelnet or something? I actually do a lot of my BBSing from my iPad while on the road (90% of my life it seems) and selfishly I tend to check out boards via the web more than via telnet ;)

That may happen. Just got back in the game a few weeks ago.
More research, I suppose... Frank?!? ;)
If you need help testing or validating it works we can help with that :)

Seriously tho stop reminding me how I have no ANSI art skills :) Already another amazing Ad and I haven't even attempted to open up an ANSI
editor yet.

Will do! Thanks a TONNE!
Forgot to mention of your running Mystic it can host it's own web server as well to host HTML files. I have not tried it and am just running my site with Apache but kind of nice it can host it's own web site as well
on the same server/service. I know others are using it for a basic web site. Probably okay if all you need is static HTML.

I hate to disparage the work g00r00 put into mystic to make it do this, but...why? :) There are perfectly good, mature, hardened, secure http daemons. As far as I know, mystic doesn't even speak https, right? Does
it offer something unique that nginx doesn't? Or apache?

I think his initial thought process was to use Mystic's built in http server to offer up download links when downloading something from the
bbs, much like it can do ftp download links.
He in turn, offered to make it available for static pages. On the flip side, having an http server that can't process any scripting like js,
php, python, etc. can actually be a security benefit. The other side of that argument is that you can't really do anything with it short of serving a download link or static page.

The fact that we can't do https to me is a show stopper. I'm reluctant to even browse to sites that don't offer https. My work laptop flat out
won't allow it, and I have a chrome plugin to block all non-https
traffic by default. Hopefully he can at least enable that at some point.
Actually, I think that Im going to wait until my new Qnap arrives to decide how I want to post the bbs presence on the web. I have no delusions that the board will ever be anything but a retirement project for me with nothing near the popularity we enjoyed in the 90s. I do appreciate that more potential exists by making it available on the web. We shall see....
Personally I like to see a balance. I'm a bit of a purist. The BBS experience should be had on the BBS.
On that note I completely agree with you give me ssl or give me nothing.
