• ABC ESPN out

From HusTler@21:2/150 to All on Thu Oct 19 13:48:23 2023

Anyone have spectrum charter cable? I read online that Disney pulled their channels from spectrum - charter cable. So I can't watch football. Does anyone still recieve ABC or ESPN? What provider do you have?

I have Spectrum and that was a problem locally for me for about 2 weeks. They finally
did agree on a contract and ESPN came back about 2 weeks ago. We never did lose ABC
    though.

I'm sure that there will be an agreement soon and you should hopefully get yours back
    as well.

Ugh... contract negotiations. The customers always get caught in the crossfire. I remember ViacomCBS pulling the same stunt everytime their contract is due. They would put messages on the screen saying that these channels could get pulled if the customers don't do something with their cable provider. Sadly, it wasn't limited to cable channels either. I had one instance where my health insurance was about to drop our local hospital from their network, and we scrambled to find anouter hospital to go to (my wife was pregnant at that time, and were sticking with out local hospital until they pulled this stunt.)

Thankfully, they got the it all worked out before she was due.

I don't have cable - just over-the-air and some streaming, but there's a local over-the-air broadcast ABC channel in my area.

I had an appointment to get a knee x-ray which was set up through the VA at a third party lab. The lab is trying to charge me for the x-ray and I don't know how to route them to the VA...the whole thing is annoying. I really don't like how our health care system works.

What a scam... Having Blue Cross threatening to drop your provider and then your provider go off and telling their patients to go to some website that just does nothing in the end.

Such typical BS games the insurance and health care providers play while the patients are caught up in this mess. Same thing here with the original post: a cable provider and a network get into a pissing contest leaving the audience in the middle of the crossfire.

I apologize; that was not directed towards you. That was more directed toward these companies who enter in some sort of "partnership" to provide services between each other for their mutual customers and then they turn and play
these games between each other, leaving their mutual customer base caught in the middle. I get that expectations need to be set, but come on... could we at least wait a litte bit longer?

For the life of me I can't figure out what's going on with TV. Anyone notice all the streaming providers now? I think there will be no cable channels within 5 or 10 years. Hulu, Youtube, Sling, Fubo and many others all offer tons of channels over the internet. But none let you pick your own channels. Pay 90 bucks a month and get all of them or nothing. How many channels can one person watch? I'm hoping this is where the industry is going. Pay 30 bucks a month and get the 10 or 12 channels you want to watch. Not 100 bucks and channels you don't watch. The networks are now holding programs like football hostage. It started with baseball, went to hockey and now football. It's nuts! I'm a TV addict and can't get my fix! LOL!

It's pathetic. They don't even ask what's wrong. All they want to know is what insurance you have. You're better off with no insurance and no assets or money.

I did that for my mother before she died. Great way to save money, and there are so
many local stations that it only makes sense to do that.

I get free basic cable through my HOA and I only have to pay for any Premium channels

Welcome anoard! I hope you enjoy some savings from not having cable or satelite!

I cut the cord a long time ago around 2009. I just ended up using iTunes to
buy and download shows, and Netflix back when they were transitioning from shipping DVDs to streaming. We had cable a couple of times, even tried streaming services like Sling, but I can never watch it. I just enjoy the on-demand nature of streaming: whatch what I want when I want. I use YouTube, Tubi, PlutoTV, and Paramount+. That's pretty much all I need.

Dude, I hear you. I'm fine with not having channels and prefer more on-demand shows and movies. I have thought many years ago that cable channels should be a pick and choose type deal, especially it all being digital these days anyways.

The one drawback to streaming, though, is that it's very easy to fall into the trap that I call, "Subscription Hell." $7/month here, $7/month there, $9/month there... it all adds up fast if you're not careful.

Technically speaking, patients who are covered by insurance are not regarded as customers by the hospital.

The insurance is the hospital's customer, and the patient is the insurance's customer.

Something people rarely realizes is that what they regard as funky behavior from hospitals and doctors is actually medical professionals
trying to balñance the interests of every party involved while one of the parties is being outright scammy.

I am not gonna name any company (not that you would b familiar with Spanish insurance companies) but sometimes a company will delay payment
badly, or drop some service from the contract, and you happen to have a good bunch of patients from said company in the queue. You may as
well drop them all, but then there are humanitarian and practical reasons not to. Oftentimes you end up comitting some ugly irregularity so
you can still provide some service, and after you do so in order no to get everybody dropped, **they still come throwing stones at you and
    complaining**.
