part was even offered to Baldwin going forward. But Hunt for Red October was soooooo good, with Connery and the rest of the ensemble cast the bar was probably set too high. That movie is one of the very few I'd rate as better than the book - and the book was great. I should maybe reread
some of the Clancy novels, I was a teen/early 20 when I read most of
them, I read every spy novel I could get my hands on.

The guy who died was played by an actor (Sam Neil) who live in central Otago which is about 2 hours away from me.

Not only did I love that film (and watched it over and over) I actually
spent a good chunk of my first two years of college listening to the
soundtrack whenever I had time between classes.

Good old Sony Walkman.

Sometimes I miss using a Walkman. I thought Walkmans were awesome back in the day. I was a kid in the 80s, and there was one year I got a cassette player & radio Walkman for Christmas and I thought that was one of the most awesome things ever. I liked being able to listen to music to keep myself occupied when I might otherwise be bored (which is basically what people use smartphones for these days). I've always loved music too though.

I played an augmented-reality game called "Majestic" back in 2000 that mixed in-game content and web sites, real-world web sites, NPC instant messages, phone calls and faxes, telling a story of intrigue, hacking, conspiracies, mystery and government coverups. Each day you'd get a round to investigate the game world (which blended in nicely with real-world web sites) and interact with other players and NPCs via AIM. Music would play in the background at different times.

I found the stream URLs and ripped the streams, they're playing on realitycheckBBS radio as I type this. It's a mix of hip-hop, dark ambient, acoustic and electronica that I've used to tune out when I'm working, especially when I'm in open areas. I started the shoutcast stream when I was commuting to customer sites and using their laptops.

I think what I liked most about the Red October soundtrack was that in a
way, the songs all kind of meshed together into one big long song.

Until you had to flip the tape.

When I got it on CD, my life was somewhat complete (at the time... I was
young and didn't know what was to come).

I don't think there were any digital FM stations back then, were they? I thought they were all analog broadcasts.
