So has anyone seen the new Willow?

So far, I've been enjoying it. I wasn't sure that I would. It doesn't
seem like the kind of show to take itself too seriously, and I think
that's what is part of the enjoyment.

Three episodes in and I think I'm going to stick with it for awhile.

I've watched the first episode. I enjoyed it. I will probably get back into the other episodes this weekend.

Sounds like this is a new TV show? Does this have anything to do with the Willow movie that came out around 1987?

It is a direct sequel from the movie. It even includes Warwick Davis still playing Willow.

That's cool that they got the same actor for that.

I haven't, and my wife hasn't seen the film. GoT kind of soured me on all fantasy/midieval stuff, but this seems interesting.

Is it important to have the context from the film, first? Perhaps I should watch that first...

I def would recommend a film watch prior to the new series.

How so? I thought the overall journey was pretty good. The
ending of the vid series seemed rushed when blondie "turned"
suddenly - that seemed out of character.

    Yes and yes.

It's on Disney+ and first aired.... week before this? (Nov 30 with 2
episodes and episode 3 was Dec 7). It's releasing new episodes on
    Wednesday if I recall correctly.

It's set about... 20-ish years after the movie?

Kind of a "you remember that evil thing I warned you would probably come back?.... well.... it's back" kind of story.

I haven't bothered to IMDB it yet, but is Willow's daughter played by the
    same actress?

    Ok... so .....

It looks like in addition to Warwick Davis, they have the same Sorsha
(Joanne Whalley) but without going through it name by name, that looks to
be about it. His "daughter" is not played by the same actress but
instead played in the series by his real life daughter Annabelle Davis.

    That's a nice touch.

I'd watch the film first just because it's a classic. ;)

The nice thing about it, as I mentioned earlier... there is a little
humor here and there (the series, even more so).

I thought the show started out great as it ws mostly character driven and then turned into a show that was mainly CGI driven and consisted of battle scenes and not much else. I really was disappointed the direction everything went following the Red Wedding (which was the pinnacle of greatness IMO).

There are entire subreddits and news articles dedicated toward articulating the exact way I felt about the show which can elucidate what I'm trying to say much better than I can :)

So.... just wondering if anyone caught (what I am assuming is) the season
    ender for Willow?

Not bad with the effects... was expecting more of a climactic final
battle (but then again, guessing that this isn't the final battle after
all, but a mid level boss fight).

I still have to say I like the way they can toss the humor in but still
leave you feeling like it's not a joke.
