It sounds like it's getting poor reviews by the critics.
Too many new superheros in one film perhaps?

We saw this movie in the theatre over the weekend, I thought it was pretty good. Could they have made a movie about each individual character?
Probably. Maybe they could have split this movie into two or three and spent some more time on the characters as well, but I still this movie was well done.

I certainly don't regret seeing it it theatre, it was visually stunning, the effects were well done and the story, while long, didn't seem dragged out.

I should perhaps not get a large pop while watching a movie that's 2.5 hours long... :O

No, well someone may have, but not me. I did see a preview of it though.

Wife and I went and saw Red Notice the other day and it played a preview
of it before hand. It looked ok from the preview.

Not being a marvel person, I didn't recognize any of the superheros, so I probably wont go and see it, but it did look ok.

A friend of mine posted good reviews on the socials about it - but I don't follow all these new titles too much. Hmph.

I jumped off the Disney bandwagon long time ago. They are more concerned with manufacturing political messages than building actual plots as of late. When they starred the Skrull as the poor oppressed minorities in the Cpt. Marvel film they also mutilated the source material, since the Skrulls count themselves among the worst Nazi-Communist wannabes in Universe.

The Eternals used to be a nice comic series. I have good memories of both the Eternals and the Inhumans. For some reason I keep them both in the same wardrobe within my brain.

I have tall concrete walls around my territory so I don't have to scare people away. If some kid wants to pet my horses he is welcome to ask for entrance, but there are no kids in Spanish villages anymore.

And for the record, everytime I see some old movie I end up saying aloud "They don't make them like this anymore" to the people who watched it with me more often than not.

OK, well that's a good sign thanks, yeah I am trying to keep up with the MCU as it seems if you miss a film you miss a bit of the larger jigsaw puzzle.

I think the interesting thing you point out here (well it is to me) is that folks who have read the comics first then come to the movies will have a different take on things as I understand the MCU tends to change things compared to the comics, this character now male instead of female... that kind of thing.

I had an unfavorable reaction to the all female cast of Ghost busters reboot a few years back. The script was not that good and just turning the three lead actors to another gender didn't (in my mind) make the movie any better or special because they did that change.

    [No Spoilers]
Yeah, there are 10 of these Eternals all together who are sent to Earth. All of them have a backstory and they do touch of some of them and their origins, but the movie really revolves around Sersi & Ikaris and their love story.

I guess it really comes down to which character your like more, if they
didn't spend enough time on "your" character, perhaps you wouldn't like the movie as much?

I liked Kumail Nanjiani's character, he added in a nice comical twist while Angelina Jolie's character was more serious/dark. I wouldn't say that
ignored any one character, but with 10 of them, you're not going to get everything you want.

It was left wide open for a sequel and there will be fewer characters in that movie for various reasons, so maybe a lot of these criticisms would be rectified in the next movie.

I plan to watch it on Disney+ when it finally gets released in a few months. The urge to hit the cinema to see it when it first drops is not as strong as it once was. On the whole I've found Disney+ a good platform offering a lot more than just kids stuff.

We have Disney+ as well. I saw Shang Chi twice in the theatre and we watched it again on the weekend with my father-in-law. We knew he'd like the movie, so picked up some food and put the movie on.

We know if he likes a movie or not based on how much he talks through the show. About the only peep we heard from him was "Can we pause this a moment?
I want to make a cup of tea!" lol

Yes I liked the film too it was a good mix of humour and action and scope for the characters to grow.
