Anyone else built a upright or bar cabinet? I built one last year and running a Ryzen 7 box with WIN 10 and Launchbox/ Big Box. Currently have over 10,000 games in it including MAME games, NES, SNES, Play station, PS2, etc. It is a 2 player cabinet with Ultimarc servo sticks and Ultimarc trackball all with RGB LED's. I started the project because I wanted to play Donkey Kong....

Anyone else built a upright or bar cabinet? I built one last year and

I built a control panel around 2010 with Suzo/Happs controls. The fam had a
ton of fun smashing the buttons to track-n-field and lots of arcade. I need
to upgrade my USB joystick interfaces - as I switched my emulation to FPGA
and had some compatibility issues at the time.

When retropie was new, I messed with it some and - for the most part - liked the ease-of-use and packaging that it provided. I haven't been keeping up to date, I'm sure it is quite advanced now.

I also, recently (in Covid days), saw some uprights and cocktails at Best Buy or another box shop. Have you messed with there stuff at all? The cabs looked decent from the thumbnail - I was curious.

Micro Center carries stuff to build an upright or bar cabinet, it's pretty decent for the price. A lot of the other stuff out there is so-so. There is a guy on youtube called ETA prime https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_0CVCfC_3iuHqmyClu59Uw Who has a lot of videos on emulation and testing out different systems. I went with the Ultimarc
stuff because of the quality and support. I also choose the pc/launchbox big box route so I could play my PC games as well as the retro stuff.

I can dig ultimarc - certainly can't complain about quality. I think u/m was the stick that a buddy of mine used that was magnetic and let you adjust four/eight way by pulling up/turning the stick. My only complaint (if it
could be called such) was that it was a little rigid - much less like what
one might remember in the on a well-work kong where the joystick just kinda fell in one direction or another.

Wait, what? I've seen some hardware-methods of switching from 4 to 8 but... haven't heard of... well - this hardware method. :P

It is pretty slick, when you start a game there is a little servo on the joystick that moves a plate to either restrict it to 4 positions or un-restrict

it to 8 positions depending on the game.
