  • WinUAE/Amiga Workbench

    I got as far as a hand holding an Amiga Workbench v1.3 screen with WinUAE.
    What did I miss?

    After I make a Hardfile and try to Add Directory the guide I'm following
    shows to enter a device name, volume label and then has a drop down for path and says Workbench3.1 (the Hardfile i just made) should be listed. It isn't
    and even if I point to the dir Workbench 3.1 is in, it won't show there...
    just the path to the folder.

    If I type the Hardfile name in and start I get a 'Not a DOS disk in unit 0' system request box.

    What dumb thing did i do? =) What little thing did i miss?

    You need to boot of the install disk for your version of workbench.
    Then run hdtoolbox to partition the drive.
    Then format it, and then install workbench.

    I'm not a regular winuae so can't give detailed instructions.

    Exactly what Vorlon said, but I will give you fair warning 1.3 is not really Hard Drive the best thing to do is purchase AmigaForever you can probably find it real cheap. It comes with Amiga OS 3.1 which is fully WinUAE compatible and also includes the ROMS needed to run Amiga OS in WinUAE.. After you pick up AmigaForever, take a look at cnetbbs.net, on the support link on the bottom of the paragraph is a link to a install doc for installing CNet BBS, just use the docs to set up WinUAE, I currently run a CNet in WinUAE running OS 3.2 and it runs flawlessly..
