I can remember it being somewhat slow on a Pentium-166 but part of the
reason there was that I was still on dial-up. ;) I cannot imagine trying
to use a graphic web browser on anything much slower. IMHO, a lot of web
pages these days are made to make things run slow.

I first started using the internet in late 1995, and at the time, I had a 386DX-40 running DOS and Windows 3.1, and either a 14.4k or 33.6k modem (I don't remember which I had by then). I was using Netscape on Windows (I think I started with version 2 or something), and I remember it being usable. Web sites back then were fairly light compared to web sites today, so it wasn't too bad. I think the bottleneck at the time was probably the dialup modem speed.

I will have to be careful or I might find myself traveling to the Pacific

What VGA card are you currently using? I've tried a few out (Oak, Trident & Tseng) and my Tseng ET4000 noticeably outperforms the others but EGA compatibilty is a bit iffy. Some games namely ID sortware platformers like dangerous dave & monster bash don't quite work 100% correctly...

Anyone know if there is a way around that??

Yes, I do use it pretty regular on older/slower machines. I have found it
can handle most pages I want to go to, although there are a few I have

those were news sites or other sites with lots of ads.

How well does it work with EGA games? Just wondering if I should look at getting something similar as my ET4000 glitches a bit with some EGA titles.

It's been a Loooong time... Tseng was definitely the cream of the crop. They ended up belonging to ATI and ultimately AMD. All the ET4000s I saw came
with 4 dipswitches, which affected memory usage I think. Could be this is pushing your EGA video out of regular mapping.

It might also just be your video card. Can't say I saw a problem with any of them doing this. Maybe its got faulty memory, like 1 chip getting a bit
flakey or its a poor card its in. There were some horses for courses
sporting the chipset in the end, they weren't all born equal.

I have never used or tried to compile microweb so I am not sure what it
