I know I used to tool around with any computer I could get access to and it would keep me amused. In school that might have involved editing AUTOEXEC.BAT to briefly display "infected by fart virus" during boot so I could watch the poor metalwork tech who inherited responsibility for the school's computers trying to clean it with Norton AntiVirus half a dozen times.

I'm not sure if this counts but back in those days our schools required
TI graphing calculators. You had to learn to actually use these things. We all ended up programing game and sharing them with each other. Then
we would play each others games.

I used to love those games. Still do, in a nostalgic way. I have a graphing calculator that I only actually use for these old games hehe. Those things are awesome.
