• VCF West Aug4 - Go

From massive@21:3/178 to All on Wed May 3 15:25:27 2023
After some back and forth VCF West is a go for Aug. 4th.
    More info: https://vcfed.org/2023/05/01/vcf-west-2023-is-a-go/

But the good news is that the show is on but Friday and Saturday (no Sunday). So if you are going to attend plan accordingly.

As much as I like the venue, last year's VCF felt light compared to
previous ones. The sale area was lackluster and I felt like we went
through much faster than before. Maybe it's covid after-effects.

For almost the same price you can get a docent-led tour of the Computer
History Museum on the main floor and see some well-curated old hardware.

I'm tempted to sit this one out and see how 2024 pans out.

Perhaps. But here on the east coast VCF East was about 3x larger than
it's largest show- it was a huge show that people really seemed to enjoy.
We were lucky with some nice days (for NJ in April) so that helped...

It will be interesting to see the attendance at West.

There is also SouthWest again after a long hiatus...

I thought the Computer History Museum closed for COVID and never opened back up?

It was open for VCF west last year. During 2020 I was concerned for any
museum with volunteers, as many of them are retirees and as such were
at-risk. The CHM, last time I went, had some great docents who worked in
the valley in the '70s and '80s and could speak firsthand of the history
    they were displaying.
