Subject: Power Supply for the A500 Mini...

Everything I've come across says to use at least a 2 Amp USB power module. Just ordered a 3 Amp phone charger charger. Getting a pair of them with 4 connectors.

My question is with a 3-3.1 Amp power module...is there any danger of frying anything like the A500...RPi 3B+ or to recharge a phone?

Nope more is better than less. I have a 30 amp Mass charger brick I will eventually make into a project box. Eventually going to make a Mass battery pack with it so I can run multiple USB devices at once. Pi's and other fun toys while on the go.

The problem with a lot of phone chargers is that they can't sustain the
Amp's long enough and start playing up.

The ideal way to go is if a device say's 3amp required, get a 4amp. If it
    say's 2amp's get a 3amp.

That gives the power supply breating room so to speak, and it's not
working at max capacity to supply the requred amp's. The best idea is to
not push the psu past 80% capacity.

Ponder, they should be able to supply the rated capacity more or less indefinitely. The closer to 100% you can actually load the supply over all
the more efficiently they run. If you were going to do anything extra, I'd consider an air movement device maybe...

They should be able to run at 100% all the time, but many can't/don't.
Running the supply at 100% will shorten the supplies life.

So it's best to not push them, especially when a lot of them are mande to
    a $, vs quality.

That's got to be either cheap components or bad design, and either way they shouldn't be rated if they can't supply. Even if its peak load, that ought
to be labeled for that as well as constant load.

So it's best to not push them, especially when a lot of them are mande to a $, vs quality.

Still not going to run with the don't push it, I don't get with the leave a spare amp in the wings... However I'm not going to argue with the $ vs
quality though... you "always" get what you pay for, well 95% of the time anyways.

Take an old PC strip the power supply out and you can make a power cable from the Motherboard cable. If you have one with a switch on it then there are 2 pins you can jump and it will fire up the PS when the power switch on the back is activated. This will deliver clean and enough power

Been there done that... the ol' man cave had solar panels, batteries and in case of excessive consumption a 320W atx supply. However the same problem still holds, unless you're drawing close to the 320W rating you're going to
be getting horrible efficieny out of it. The flip side, for a shorter time I had raft of wall wart powered devices running of much the same setup..
probably end up looking at that again I think. We're getting some shocking electrickery price rises here, and its going to become a turn off or find
much better efficieny than I have now.

    I can get a 5V 200W 70A no-name supply for $56 without shipping.
    I can get a 5V 300W 60A MeanWell LRS-350-5 for $65 without shipping.

Whitch one do you think I'll go for?
