From Alpha@21:4/158 to All on Thu Oct 29 00:49:40 2020
My netmail is a MESS. I read stuff, then it still shows as unread, netmail shows up in the wrong netmail area (currently 5 separate areas), etc. I know it's SysOp error :)

SO I'd like to simplify all netmail into one NETMAIL base... I feel like this question gets asked every couple months, apologies, but: will the single netmail area config below drop all netmail, from any network I'm a member of, into one place?

    ----
    Name: Netmail
    Base Type: Netmail
    Echo Tag: NETMAIL
    File Name: netmail
    ...
    Net Address: 0:0/0 (local address)
    Export to: 0 node(s)
    ----

FYI, routes are all set correctly for all nodes...

    Thanks!

When I first setup Mystic some years ago I did it this way. Now a days I just have one netmail base.

    Name: Netmail
    Base Type: Netmail
    Echo Tag: NETMAIL
    File Name: netmail
    ...
    Net Address: 0:0/0 (local address)
    Export to: 0 node(s)

No echo tag is needed for netmail but I don't think it will hurt anything either.

That looks the same as my netmail setup so I think that is what you want.

Do you have to have one per network, or can you just add a second node to export to? I thought you had to have one per independent network.

You can have one per network if you like. Mystic does AKA matching so you don't need a separate netmail base per network.

Your netmail base should not have an export to, that is for echomail. Mystic or mutil will use your routing setup and AKA matching to move those netmail messages where they need to go.

Al is correct. You can have just one netmail base and it will handle all network netmails. You don't need to set exporting for it. Mystic will look to your known echomail nodes and the Route To info defined in each to determine where to send netmail.

Huh! I have one netmail base for each network.

I know what I'm going to play with when I get home...

Not that I'm at work, logged into a BBS... that's preposterous... ;)
