I agree this is a massive song and well worth the time to listen to :) Have always enjoyed it and agree the vocal combo was a genius move.

When I first looked at the label, I was like "is this some sort of a joke?" since I knew Aretha would put George Michael to shame vocal wise... which she did but he did actually give the song some sort of a value add. I will say
from a production stand point, his vocals do sound pretty good but he just doesn't have the range Aretha has and he can't belt them out like she really can when she gets going.

Needless to say, it was a great song!

I couldn't agree more. It never reached the "Top 40" here in the UK, despite being one of his most popular songs. Just goes to show how much us Brits know ^^

It reached #48. Close, but no cigar. I like a lot of his music. He
really does write good descriptive songs that often tell a story, much
like Mark Knopfler in some regards, both great story tellers.

Before they started doing geolocating...Absolute Radio stations turned me on to a ton of music we never heard over here. One of my favorites is "2-4-6-8 Motorway"...along with "Fairytale Of New York".

Before they stopped streaming...Radio Luxembourg was a favorite I loved.
