pointers on vert to 2015 and have the qwk script pull a packet and see what happens with over 25k msgs in a packet lol

NOTE: Vertrauen limits the size of QWK packets, currently to 10,000
messages per packet

I recently loaded up Dove-net setting back to 1980 (not that there were messages back to then) with setting of 10k messages per packet and didn't
have a problem.

Maybe there was some corruption at the end of the packet? Try setting 10k
and try again?
