Two questions, with the caveat that... Not trying to have you do it all for me apam - nor bug you to create anything that doesn't already exist.. but I thought maybe there might be better documentation by now.

Is there any better documentation about getting TALISMAN and Postie polling HappyNet now? apam gave me a Happynet node # [which I'll have to find again and make sure apam is still servicing... but I'm sure its in an email.] and I *do* wanna run HappyNet on my TALISMAN BBS.

What is the most current version of TALISMAN currently? I wanna make sure I upgrade and keep it updated to current. If I'm on 0.7 can I jump right up to the newest one, or is there any special considerations that need taken?

Thanks guys... still loving TALISMAN, still playing apam's door games and still wanna be part of the community!

    Hey Paulie!

I know this Q is for apam, but I just downloaded the brand-new
v.10 that apam released today (yesterday?). I set it up "bone stock" with only Happynet and Postie, just so I can make sure I had all the kinks ironed out w/FTN before customizing further. I had been hitting my head against a wall with ftn and Apam just graciously solved it for me (I had a relative path for the packet directory - DUH!). Man, that one had me stumped for a bit and was totally my oversight :)

Anyway, if you need any example config files, let me know -- I have the "golden triangle" of Talisman configs all working: mb_hpy.toml, binkd.conf and postie.toml. I'm running on an rpi but it would work from any install.

I also built it using apam's install.sh (on the doc site) BUT you have to manually build and link Postie, as it's not in the docs yet -- but it's the same as the other binaries, just change the paths to Postie...

Anyway, good luck and LMK if I can help as well?

Yep your node number is still there. There is no new documentation though.

The current version is v0.10, and you should be able to just upgrade.

The first thing to do is setup binkd, that actually is what polls for
mail, postie just tosses mail from / to binkd to / from your bbs.

If you want some example config files, let me know.

LOL, sounds like I was waiting for Alpha to reply!! :P

apam sent me his config file, too, but.. I'm on a RPi and I bet yours would totally help me. When apam send his, last time, I was just overwhelmed with Postie (which is AWESOME that he even includes FTN software!) so... I didn't get very far with setting it up again.

My email is paulie420@gmail.com, and I'd gladly take a ZIP if its no trouble to you. :P

Thank you kindly! Also, sounds like I need to upgrade to v0.10! Really, I'm gonna get on it this weekend! I promise, my TALISMAN peeps.

    w00t w00t!

    [Thanks, Alpha.. appreciated!]

This is all good info; I didn't even HAVE binkp before so... :P You know, I learned Mystic [And some Sync prior, but..] and stopped there. So, these new software packages are a bit of a learning curve for me.

I will be setting up HappyNet, and thanks for hanging in there with me. I'm gonna upgrade to v0.10, and Alpha has offered to send me config files and they are using the same RPi hardware that I am so... I think I have enough info now - altho I need to grab binkp.

I'm capable... just learning the TALIS curve. :P Still totally dig the BBS package, and am rocking all of YOUR door games/MagiChat on my install. :P

It's available on 2o fOr beeRS BBS, for all of my users to checkout the big T! :P

Thanks, as always, apam... yer a BBS legend.
