I've started work on making variable terminal widths supported. I wasn't
sure about doing this as I understand most people use a BBS terminal
(syncterm, netrunner, magiterm etc) to connect to BBSes which work at
80x25.

This is a huge amount of work, as there are lots of places with hard
coded sizes. So far, I've enabled getting the window size via telnet,
and am working on message display.

Once all the displaying is done, I plan to stop word wrapping messages
entered, which is probably also going to be a pain in the butt to do.

I plan to commit this into a new branch for 0.14alpha

Yep, I see a certain amount of a nightmare scenario in all this, largely
why we still have this 80x25 screen size thing going on in the BBS world.

I wish there was something I could do about that but it's there and it
won't go away.

I have made a start at installing Magicka on my own computer here at
home. I'll see if I can get that done and upgrade to 0.14alpha. I've
actually just signed up with a new internet provider that should be up
and running in a weeks time. I hope that they support IPv6 and don't
block ports. If that's the case I might be able to run the BBS from home
which would give me more resources to work with.. :)

This is my fear when I make a suggestion. I am not a programmer and
I don't know what is involved when I make a suggestion. Feel free
to not do this for all of these reasons.

Don't worry about making suggestions, I'm grateful for the input. Some suggestions may be more work than others, but then I may get around to
them later than others - or in some cases not at all.

My pain in the butt comment was more directed at myself as I should have
not been using constants in the beginning, and made it more work for
myself than it should have been. (but then, I am also learning a lot as
I go..)

Another one that I should have done from the start is support ascii connections.

There are a few big tasks to do, another is deleting messages, this is
on the back burner for now.

As I said earlier my time is a bit more limited going forward, so things
will take longer. Perhaps a to-do list somewhere is in order so I don't
forget :)

Want to let you know that I downloaded Haiku & installed it in VMWare. Hadn't looked at BeOS in about 20 years. It was fast & much more responsive than I remember.

Thanks for telling us about your adventure with Haiku. Will have to play with it some more when I get the time to do so.
