• QWK-E Support Added!

From apam@21:1/125 to All on Sun Dec 9 22:20:00 2018
    Hi All

I just added QWK-E support, it appears to work....

You will need to run the user_update_sql thing...

    Also adds another string :)

I've added a new UPDATING file with the time and date of when I've made
a change that requires you to add strings / run update utils.

Ooooh, more testing to do! :D

Upgraded, now to test. Will turn off the Freeway and pick up the Bush Track in a little while. :D

    Good idea.

One little nitpick. Any chance of being able to tweak QWK packet settings in the offline menu? I found it in the user setup, kind of logical but clumsy when one is just grabbing some mail and wants to enable QWKE. :)

Anyway, let's see if this message uploads correctly. :)

I have not looked, but I would guess that you can add the user setup option
to the offline menu by copying the code for that option from the main.mnu file to the appropriate menu file.

You can, but I think Tony wants to separate mail configuration from user configuration. On one hand I can't really see someone wanting to toggle
QWK-E on and off (I mean once you have set your preferred method, you
kind of just leave it don't you?). On the other hand as time goes by,
more and more settings are added to the settings menu, it might be useful
to split them up into categories.

I'll have to have a closer look. This isn't a big issue, but I can seeing having the QWK settings closer to offline mail would make more sense to some.

    Well, my thought process was:

Check the offline menu - nope, no option to enable QWKE there. OK, maybe i need to update my menus. Check dist/ for new files - nope, last changes were yesterday... Hmm, where is it? On a hunch, I thought the only other place I can think of is the user settings, and found the option there.

Now, since that was a long winded process, with a hunch, I figured perhaps it could be better structured for users. :)

For now might I suggest simply adding to the offline mail menu a
settings and send them to the user settings page. That way they can
change it from there? In fact I like that idea so much I'm doing it
    myself.
