• Current thinking fsxNet echos

From Avon@21:1/101 to All on Fri Feb 7 14:09:56 2025
    Hi folks

So you will have (hopefully) seen some posts here about thinking for echomail areas and also some posts I made today into a number of other fsxNet echos.

    I'll try to summarise proposals/thinking:

    1) close FSX_MAG and shift discussions about Talisman/Magicka etc. to FSX_BBS

    2) close FSX_ENG and shift discussions about Enigma 1/2 BBS to FSX_BBS

    3) close FSX_STA and set stats posts from hubs to just weekly into FSX_BOT but retain nightly stats updates on website fsxnet.nz

    4) close FSX_FIL and ask sysops to post such updates to FSX_BOT and at a frequency that is ideally once weekly or a worse once daily

    5) close FSX_LFE and move those topics etc. across to FSX_GEN

    6) close FSX_MUSIC and broaden the description of FSX_VIDEO so that all topics in FSX_MUSIC can be included in the FSX_VIDEO echo... so merging stuff into one current echo vs trying to create yet another new one to do the same thing

    7) close FSX_SPACE and direct BOT posts in that echo to FSX_BOT and general chat about Space etc. to FSX_GEN

    8) broaden the description of FSX_HAM so all topics of radio comms etc. are on topic not just HAM / Amateur related stuff... this is a great suggestion from the community - thanks :)

    9) perhaps broaden the description of FSX_ADS to also encourage ANSI art posts into this echo - thoughts?

I will cross-post this update to both FSX_GEN and FSX_NET

Please keep all replies to FSX_NET thanks.

    Best, Paul aka Avon

    I'm ok with all this. I don't know what echo this is, I hope it's FSX_NET :-)

    I'm a tad worried you're not aware or the echo FSX_NET :)

    from the history.txt here's the info :)

    [snip]

    2019-12-03
Created FSX_NET - fsxNet is now just over 4 years old. This echoarea has been
created as a space for discussions about the network, its
current operations, plans for the future and how best to
implement them. Suggested topics include decentralization,
    collaboration, promotion, membership, encrypted connectivity
mesh networking, new protocol development + implementation
    etc.

Yeah, curious eh... still for the amount of chatter about Space stuff it could just as easily occur here given the overall levels of chatter about the topic..

Funny word wrapping going on there?

So have you been following the recent reports of the asteroid 2024 YR4 that *may* strike the Earth in 2032? I think reports have it as a 1 in 83 odds?

When quoting the quote it was worse. (Snipped for sanity reasons).

It's been in the local media, with a 1% chance of hitting us.

One radio show ran a joke about it: Don't purchase christmas presents until after the 22nd Dec.
