    Hi, mary4.

    anyone using retro hardare? <3

Yup, my daily BBSing machine is an Acorn A3020 - absolutely love it. Ironically I didn't get on with the terminal software I could find for it so I wrote my own - it runs full screen and uses a ROM-dumped VGA CP437 font so I could just as well be BBSing on an old PC... But the keyboard is lovely and it makes a beautiful pan pipe "hoob" sound instead of the PC speaker beep :)

I also have a BBC micro but that's a bit too limited for all-the-time BBSing. It's mildly exciting visiting BBC based BBSes with it as it has its own way of doing colours and a slightly different character set - you get quite a distinctive experience. It can do 80 cols but only in mono, so not ideal.

The only time I use modern hardware to BBS is a) on holiday or b) to visit PETSCII boards. And, of course, I use MuffinTerm for that so the experience is still surprisingly authentic.

    At times I dial in on a few systems I have setup and running;

    Apple II
    Dolch PAC 60 486/66
    Windows XP Dell Laptop
    (I sold BOTH my C= systems. :( )
... and a few others; Atari 600, 286 monochrome laptop, etc.

:P I'm not as cool as you ALWAYS calling from my retro's, but I join you a few times a week!!

I'm here with my Atari 800XL that I usually use for BBSing. I'm not sure how many Atari 8-bit ATASCII boards besides mine are hooked up to fsxnet...

I also use my 486 which I've had since new for BBSing on ANSI boards.

I would love to use retro hardware, maybe an old macintosh. That would be dreamy.

A Mac IIci, maxxed out with 12 MB of RAM. Cache card and external video
card. Internal 80mb drive, external 1GB SCSI drive. 14" Sony CRT, Apple Extended keyboard and mouse.

That was my daily driver for years, outlasted others who moved onto
Quadras. It never crashed and just did what it was told the entire
    time. Loved that machine.

If I ever went retro, that's the machine I'd get. Unless I had the desk
    space for a IIfx. :)

You'd be surprised. I can't see myself, though, using retro systems since my experience using them have been rather sour. Aging hardware tend to be high maintenance with my luck and I end up spending more time fixing them than enjoying it. Also, I've resorted to using rpi rigs for my home computing needs. This means far less electricity utilization as well as heat in my den during the summer. I think this upgrade has dropped ambient temperature by fifteen degrees during peak summer heat and that's huge for me.

What 286 rig are you using? What are the stats?

    D

... What do you mean, QWK? It took me over an hour to read!

Hey, as while in the museum and messages yes, for sure :-).
On the Website it is much more effort to keep the website in both English and German and as i am the only person doing it, i keep it in German only.

I thought about also adding Czech as we are living right next to the boarder.

But if anyone would like to take a tour it would be amazing.

I looked at Your Museum webpages again today.

On the /kontakt page is a map.
I have two World Atlas books and didn't see Nieder-Osterrich in the index of either book.
I also looked to see if I could see the City on the Germany map page(s) but not able to figure out what area in Germany Your Museum is located.

As an aside, I shop at Aldi Grocery Store here in Indiana.
