Space Quest 1. The first game I played on my first computer.

Loved the whole series. Space Quest 1's arcade sequence in the desert
pissed me the hell off, otherwise it was really good. And it seems like
most of the series had really annoying mini-games

SQ2 - the stupid vine maze
SQ IV - The stupid ass air roller skating in the middle of the mall
SQ V - I *really* hated the stupid floor waxer mini-game

It's like Sierra enjoyed punishing the people who played their games. And
we would give them all of our money so they could punish us!

    Wait... What?

    Oh man. I remember this.

SQ IV - The stupid ass air roller skating in the middle of the mall

YES! Holy hell. I damn near broke many mice trying to get past this stupid scene. What was the point of it?!

SQ V - I *really* hated the stupid floor waxer mini-game

Agree, though this was really more of an annoyance than anything really detrimental IMO. In any case these games all had some rather annoying parts.

In LSL1 I think the annoying part would be the casino...having to metagame it to save after every successful spin. I guess it seemed cool in the design discussions but what a pain in the ass.

Any fans of the original Alone in the Dark? Loved that game! It was hard as hell though. I remember finally beating it one day thanks to an article in a PC gaming magazine. I still have my boxed copy from the early 90s on the shelf here, along with my PCBoard bound manuals, haha!

I remember a tunnel in one of the episodes. That was a pain, I ended up
asking one of my friends at school to get me through it, so technically I
    never finished that one.

It was extra-annoying since the rest of the mall level was so good! Though looking back at it now, it was also pretty sexist and trans-phobic. It's amazing what we used to find amusing back in the 90s...

Ha, my bad! Though I use 'man' as a colloquialism when speaking to people of any gender. It's sorta like 'dude' for me (which I also use ambiguously).

I really enjoyed that level as well. It probably has something to do with that being the quintessential kids-hang-out-in-malls era :P

Personally, I think it's kinda pointless to judge another era (with all
of it's different standards) through today's lens...

But the Space Quest series rocks! Love it, still replay 1,2, and 3 on my
    Atari ST today. :)

SQ3 is an excellent game all the way through. Just the right mix of strategy and some arcade-y stuff that doesn't get in your way /too/ bad.

I have to admit, getting ScummVM set up has been something on the to-do

But now, I might have more motivation.
