• Issues wth FrontDoor

From Nighthawk@21:3/103 to All on Thu Aug 2 20:31:13 2018
    Hello my friends,

I have setup my system, Titan's Orbit, to run under Mystic, but using
    Frontdoor as the mailer.

The setup with Mutura HUB was flawless: Set up the Hub as a Directory
one, and then created a static queue on Frontdoor to read any new
files at that specific directory (C:\fd\agency), to be treated as
    outgoing mail.

Now I am trying to setup Fidonet into my node, and I have repeated
the same setup, but of course using a different directory, as my
fidonet hub is Brain Storm BBS. (C:\fd\brainstorm).

All echomail coming from Brain Storm BBS arrives normally at my
system, but when I try to post mail to Fido, it seems that Frontdoor
can't detect that there's outgoing mail at the static queue.

Is there anything else that I could try? Outgoing mail to fsxnet goes
into c:\fd\agency and goes correctly into Mutura Hub, but outgoing
mail towards Fidonet is never sent into Brain Storm BBS...

I haven't used FD for years.. loved that software.. :)

I wonder if FD is able to read the long directory name c:\fd\brainstorm? Maybe it would work better with a shorter name like c:\fd\agency?

BTW, what version of FD are you using there? Is it DOS, Windows or ?? And is FD being updated at all?

Not sure if this is the answer or not, but I just had the same issue myself, Fido traffic was coming in then would sit and wait until my hourly poll would take place. I assume you are using Mystic to toss the traffic, just add a
poll out to your incoming event, in my case when the semaphore is present, it runs mutil mailin.ini I do that then since I use Mystic to poll I do a
fidopoll send.. In your case you would call Front Door..

    Maybe that will help??

No and yes.. agree with you on this one Al.

The static queue I think is like a filebox which when I set up my end I
thought would work best also, like Flavio is doing.. I'll try and do some homework to see if I can help with the other answer.

I also think we need to ping JoHo for a reply here :) He should be lurking somewhere as he's polling regularly the Mutura HUB for packets.

My last experience with FD was the OS/2 version many years ago. I used the static queue then IIRC.

I've wondered about a linux version of FD. Not holding my breath but I do wonder.. :)

    Thanks a million Al!

Here I am running Mystic as a tosser, and FD as a mailer... Indeed you
were right: I changed the directory name from c:\fd\brainstorm to
c:\fd\bs and re-created the static queues and now it's working like a
    charm!

JoHo is maintaining FD, and he is active here at fsxnet... He even granted
me a license.. Running Windows version.

This is already happening, the issue was that FD was not recognizing
outgoing mail to be sent towards my Fido hub.

At the end of the day it was related to directory size.

That's right Avon... you just set up the directory and pattern (*.PKT)
and the address to which it should be sent and FD does the trick.

Al's suggestion regarding the directory name size was correct, now
    all is working. ;)

Well, the pay raise is a percentage of the normal sysop pay. So, we're
looking at doubling your current sysop pay... :)
