Made some cosmetic changes. Online users are not displayed to the right
of the screen. Every users has there own color. So now every line will have the user handle: message and one of 6 colors.
The slow keyboard issues has been resolved. It has been hard to troubleshoot as I can not reproduce on my end. But it you have trouble, let me know and you can type /off to turn off the remote cursor query routine.
Feedback is always welcome.

For action words:
How about being able to just type

Also what about rooms? Do you have those in your future plans?
Once again nice work!
What's the purpose for the remote cursor query? Was that trying to resolve the previous issue of it writing over top of the > marker?
All in all, it's coming along quite nicely. It could still use a Clear screen on entry as it just smashes the display over top of the menu it
was called from.

Yes, I need to know where the users cursor is so I can return it to
its position after the screen is updated with a message.
I have the call to clear the screen both in ansi and asci, but on your connection from your bbs it does not work. I am interested in login into your bbs so I can test for myself. What is your telnet address?

I did some double checking and found that this issue is only happening with RIPTel. It does not happen with NetRunner. I'll try a couple
other terminal programs to be sure Riptel is the only one.
Confirmed with 4 different Telnet applications. The problem resides only in RipTel. It's far more tolerable than originally thought. Especially if RipTel users are the only ones seeing it. Most people use other applications.
I dont like the colour to follow all the txt , I would rather just have the user name in the colour . and the rest of the txt in black and white.
I dont see it messing with my screen here , but if I do work with the sysop commands it does mess with them for some reason , if I lo out and log back in the screens are normal again ...
Would it be possible to use the ansi code to save and restore cursor position? for example, a message comes in, send the code \033[s then display the message and restore with \033[u ?

I will get a copy of ripTel and see if I can figure it out.
Is that the riptel from the '90's you speak of or is it newer?
I thought that there was a newer version for windows available from pcmicro.com/something I forget exactly now.

Make sure you get the RIPTel thats on Black Flag. The install has been upgraded to work with Windows 32 and 64 bit with a few improvements.

The one I got I picked up from Hawk's Searchlight board. blackflag.acid.org:24. It's in the files.
OK, Thanks
