Echomail Areas Closing

A number of fsxNet echomail areas are soon to be retired and will close down
on 10 May 2023.

FSX_DIY D.I.Y Chat, Tips + Tricks
FSX_FOOD Food + Cooking Chat
FSX_GARDENING Gardening Chat
FSX_ARTS Arts + Artistic Chat
FSX_TRANSPORT Transportation Chat (All Modes)
FSX_SPORTS Sports Chat


Introducing FSX_LFE
===================

Replacing the retired echomail area, a single new Lifestyle echo FSX_LFE
has been created. Here are the details copied from fsxnet.txt

many different lifestyle topics including (but not limited to)
Gardening, DIY, Art, Food, Travel, Transport, Sports, Pets,
Health & Fitness etc. Dive in, lets chat :)

Sysops - please delink from the retired echomail areas by 10 May 2023 or your fsxNet HUB admin will. Please remove the retired echomail areas from your BBS. If you choose to retain them for posterity, please ensure the retired echos
are set as 'read-only' for your users.

Further updates and information about these changes and new echomail areas
soon to be added to fsxNet can be found in FSX_NET ... the fsxNet Network Ops/Planning echomail area.

Could we also wait for the new FSX_LFE to get added and then move over all messages from the different retired areas to that FSX_LFE message base???

(I guess I can do whatever I want - but... I think for 2oFB that might be a better solution.)

The new FSX_LFE is available for you to link to at your HUB now and there has been some traffic on it already :)

I thought about doing as you suggested but no no we're not planning on moving messages from old echos to this new one.

It's certainly your choice to keep the old echomail areas on your local BBS should you still want that older correspondence. But I'd ask you make those retired echos read only and not export anything to the HUB. I'd also suggest you mark them as read only also so users are not confused.

The risk is you would / could end up exporting all those old messages back out to FSX_LFE as new messages, and this is something I would not want to see in the new echomail area please.

You, sir, are 1oo% correct. :P I don't have the skills to not route them thru FSX_LFE - ugh.

I'll think about what to do - but first I better find the new area. ;P
