Got it working with DOS-X and X00.

However, it runs kinda slow :-(

I notice that the RBBS/QBBS DORINFOx.DEF generated has the baudrate set
to 38400. Is this something I can change in Synchronet?

No, and it would make no difference if you could. There's no actual "baudrate" going on unless DOSBox-X is doing some kind of throttling, and I doubt that it is. The cause of the slowness is likely due to just software emulation of the 8086 and DOS.

    DOSBox-X is an emulator. :)

The *emulated* baud in that version of DOSBox-X is 9600 by default, but can be increased to 115200 if you're using the MODE.COM utility as described in my writeup. I'd suggest double checking to ensure that rundosdoor.cmd includes the "echo mode ..." line.

I have not tried any versions of DOSBox-X after 0.83.10, so as far as I know there is no way to get a faster speed than the 115200 emulated baud. If 115200 is too slow for your liking, you can try the earliest known version of DOSBox with a socket inheritance patch (DOSBox 0.63) as outlined at http://dosbox.bbsdev.net. I ran this version for a long time before discovering DOSBox-X, and it ran very fast for me, albeit with noticeably higher CPU utilization.

Just another thought, because this is an action game, it could probably benefit from being slowed down a tad. That animated title screen alone blows by too quickly at full telnet speed in my opinion.

I tried it with and without the "mode" command with no change.

The title screen is nice and fast, but the gameplay is a little
sluggish. I'll try it with a couple of other terminals.

Yeah, it's more than a "tad" slower. It runs much slower under DOSBOX-X
than on my 16-bit RBBS under XP.

    I'll keep playing with it.

Got it working passably well by tweaking the DosBox-X CPU settings.
