What he was asking if there's a way to set the user's editor to a
specific editor before the user has logged on. bbs.select_editor() prompts the user to select one, but Accession just wants to set their editor to a specific editor without prompting them to choose one.

is it possible to inject a keypress into the input buffer and then do bbs.select_editor() ?

I suppose that's possible, though if you have some editors configured for ANSI only and the user's terminal isn't ANSI, or some editor setups only available for sysops, the list of editors could be different depending on who's calling. But it looked like DM committed a change yesterday to allow setting user.editor even if the user isn't logged in. I think that would be the better way.

The would have worked too, but been little more hacky and error-prone.
