• Errors when running a DOS door in Linux

From Gamgee@1:103/705 to All on Mon Jun 12 13:27:47 2023
    Hello all,

I did a full system update on Sunday 6/11 (git/Linux), and am now getting some error messages when running any DOS door (via dosemu). The error messages flash up on my door menu screen for a second or so, and then the door loads and operates normally. Has something to do with being unable to set user/group ID on something, apparently. Maybe it's just "cosmetics" because the doors still work, but it wasn't doing this prior to this update.

    Anybody else seeing this?

    Thanks for info!

As we discussed in IRC, sbbs is now checking more return values from system calls (in this case, setregid and setreuid). It appears the user you were running sbbs as didn't have privileges to use those system calls. The error messages shouldn't be going to the user, that it is a bug.

I did a full system update on Sunday 6/11 (git/Linux), and am now getting some error messages when running any DOS door (via dosemu).

I had the same thing happen, when updating Linux (not sbbs). One door (Usurper) would not run. The others did, but for some reason Usurper would not. I ended up restoring a backup and rolling back the Linux updates.

That's a different problem than what I was seeing.

I would suspect maybe your Linux updates included a change of some kind
    to dosemu.
