• Selectable area lists for TickFix

    Hi all,

I'm wondering if the following could be added to Tickfix...

Currently if a downlink FTN node wants to see a list of available FDN areas they can connect with to receive automated files, they can send a netmail to "Filefix@X:XXX/XXX" which would be their (Fido) uplink file area manager. Then, they can use further commands to connect to desired areas.

The problem I'm seeing is that if a Hub/Uplink system carries several FTNs, for example FidoNet / FSXnet / Micronet, and each has FDN areas available, the Hub would list each of those networks/areas in their ../ctrl/tickit.ini file. So far so good. But, when a downlink sends a %LIST command to Tickfix, they get back a list of all areas in the tickit.ini file, which isn't right because they shouldn't be able to see/connect to other FTNs areas.

The solution I would like to see is to use something like 'Echolists' which are currently available for *echomail* area management via SBBSecho / Areafix commands. This is just a list of areas with a "key" name assigned that you put into each node's entry in sbbsecho.ini to define what areas they can see/request.

I'm not even sure whether Tickfix is authored by DM, or is it Deuce? Could somebody with that knowledge let me know if this is possible and/or likely? Thank you in advance!

Yeah, it's possible. I wrote tickfix.js, but I don't actually use it myself. Just enter a feature request "issue" at gitlab.synchro.net if you don't mind.

Great, thanks DM. Will do that tomorrow, appreciate it.
