• Question about QWK

From test4d@1:103/705 to All on Wed Dec 28 02:08:15 2022
Hi, I'm experimenting with making my own Network of BBSes with QWK

is there a way to use SSH instead of the inscure telnet? thanks

also, I'm wondering if I'm understanding this correctly: can _any_ group of Synchronet BBses create a QWK network? or is special software required for the hubs?
    thank you all

Use SSH for *what*? By default, QWK networking is done via FTP these days, but you could FTPS (FTP over TLS) instead or SSH or HTTPS if your network nodes preferred. It's really up to you and your nodes as to what you transport you prefer to use.

    Yes.

or is special software required for the hubs?

    No.

ohhh i see, okay. I do have TLS set up for FTP, so does it just use FTPS automatically? or do i need to specify some command

    Yes.

or is special software required for the hubs?

    No.

    very rad

    thanks for your response!

The QWKnet node (not the hub) chooses which protocol to use for their packet transfers. If you have a QWKnet node that chooses to use an FTPS client, then that's the protocol they'll use. There's nothing for the hub (you) to do, other than to have that server enabled.
