Hi DM. Any major or minor changes to the structure of text.dat in the future or will it stay the same as it is now?

Hi DM. Any major or minor changes to the structure of text.dat in the future or will it stay the same as it is now?

The "structure" (format) of the text.dat hasn't changed in 25+ years, so probably not going to change, no. The *contents* are very likely to continue to change.

No, I mean the structure. The contents (the strings themselves) are very likely to continue to change. I try to make my changes backward compatible (e.g. adding new strings to the end), but I sometimes reuse deprecated strings or make non-backwards-compatible changes out of convenience or perceived necessity.

Yeah it looks confusing at times though. But I figure it out eventually.

I'm quite sure he means the "content", as he said. I'd think that would include
the "phrases" as well as the other "pieces" that make it up.

The colors are part of the content, so yes, they are likely to be changing in the future.

Why's that? Are you expecting a drastic overhaul in the overall look & feel of Synchronet?
