• FidoNet Poll

From Plt@1:103/705 to All on Mon Apr 6 17:23:32 2026
    Hello

I am running the current version of SynchroNet BBS on Windows 11 Pro. I set all the FidoNet events to run every 5 hours and placed on the nodes on hold. For some reason after posting messages on the FTN Networks the system continues call and send the echo messages when I want SynchroNet to wait until the event happens to send out all the echo mail.

    Thanks
    Phil Taylor

I changed the Call-out Frequency 5 times a day but Fidonet is not doing the same amount of call outs and keeps calling
the hubs after I post new messages in the echo. I changed all the Fidonet events to 5 but that is not working.

Maybe. But the default Synchronet/SBBSecho configuration doesn't do that (echocfg->Paths->Outgoing Semaphore File is blank), so while (by default) the FIDOUT event will run immediately (which invokes SBBSecho export), it will not then immediately run binkit.js. If it is, it's because Phil changed some setting.

    Hello

I am not complaining and just trying to keep my hubs happy. I do not want the system to call the hubs each time
a new message have been posted in the echoes. All the hubs status have already been placed on hold and all the fidonet
events have changed changes to run 4 times a day.

That's not how Synchronet and SBBSecho work, by default. The default configuration is when a new echomail message is locally-posted, the FIDOOUT event is run (because the default setting of SCFG->Networks->FidoNet->Echomail Sempahore is set to "%jfidoout.now"). FIDOUT runs SBBSecho export, but does *not* trigger a BinkIT/BinkP outbound connection (because echocfg->Paths->Outgoing Semaphore File is *blank* by default).

So... did you change a setting? Do you have log output that demonstates the issue?

Yeah, that script sets that setting since "most" sysops probably want their mail packets to be delivered ASAP.

Right, just clear out the "Outgoing Semaphore File" in echocfg, and that'll achieve what you've been asking for.
