Some BBSs support ansi in messages quite well. They all take diffent approaches to adding color, ansi or pipe codes are the most used ways and there are others also.

Oh.. I forgot about pipe codes. Then that would be too much to ask a developer to accomodate all those methods. I mean, it's not unlike Linus Torvald's comment about 80char line limitations that I read somewhere: "People with restrictive hardware shouldn't make it more inconvenient for people who have better resources."

If your interface doesn't support that it will look terrible. I
normally use golded or a like editor to read and reply so I have no support for color in messages.

Yes.. it seems to be intended for reading right on a BBS using its
interface. But I have less restrictive resources! LOL

Curious about a couple things... Can it be used for viewing
messgaes with ansi color and if it does, how do I configure it to

Here's his reply to your first question .....

    "No, sorry.
Personally, I have never heard of messages with ansi color."

Maybe ansi color is just a North American thing?

No, it was a BBS thing, used here in the UK and no doubt used all over the world. Oh, happy days =8)

    Regards,

:( I guess Crosspoint/OpenXP was focused on pure text comms then, and avoided incorporating BBS-specific eye-candy.

Given how OXP's ">" quoting colour system works, any ansi-color codes
thrown in would probably mess all that up anyway.

It would be cool to have a Thunderbird plugin that could render ansi
colour codes and pipe codes in select message groups though.
