It looks to me that WinPoint, if it behaves is a good thing for me.
OpenXP got me stumped on the compressor/uncompressor, showing me pkzip is
what is needed.
the message editor seems to have expanded over the whole screen
overnight. That is odd. It has an "Email" feel to it with a huge
editor that fills the screen.
Trying OpenXP is still a good idea.
What is the editor for OpenXP?

So no go for that one, I don't think I can get that these days.

one can easily acquire the FOSS zip/unzip tools for pretty much any platform these days... then it is a simple matter of fixing the command line so it works as needed...

Winpoint is truly a complete package with the many archiver/unarchiver formats integrated in the program.

Note that the editor window can be rescaled and made any size you want.
Winpoint is a fine experience if you like a truly windows gui work environment.

What is the editor for OpenXP?
It's built-in.

Yes but :)
I once tried adding a packer/unpacker but, from memory, I was unable to
save the config.

Yes it can but unfortunately, the window size/position doesn't persist
across sessions, it always fires up maximized :(

The one thing I like about it above all else is that the line length can
be configured.

I never played with that myself. But the 5 archivers listed in Extras/ Options/Archivers are already integrated into Winpoint. What more do we really need? <g>
BTW.. I just tried "Add"ing an entry and nothing happened. :(
Another one for the CONS column.

Line length, as in the number of chars across? Where?
Can't we pretty much just resize the window to whatever we want?

Yes .....
Config -> Options -> Editor -> Right Margin
Whatever value you put in there determines the maximum number of
characters per line(default=74).

AhBut :)
That adjusts the window size, it does nothing for the actual line length.
Assuming the right margin is set to 74 in OpenXP and the window width is
set to 70, the line length will still be 74 because the text will wrap at
the window edge(column 70), IYSWIM :)

That's for OXP.
This thread was about Winpoint. We were discussing Winpoint's default full-screen effect of the editor. Then you mentioned the line length can be modified. I assumed we were still on a Winpoint trajectory. :)
