what crickets? i only hear the ringing in my ears from all the silence now that
all the HDs and fans in the equipment are much quieter than the originals... that and the drip drip drip of the water coming out of the sky...

No rain here.... just the drip drip of sweat down our faces... setting
records here for heat.... supposed to be back to normal after we do get
some rain in a day or so, and then be in the 60s for highs for the
weekend.... fine by me... :)

A recently late friend who lived in Erie, PA turned her a/c on as soon as
it hit 70 degrees, saying it was hot. I used to joke everyone there must be part Eskimo.
When I visited the first time in '84 she apologised for "the heat". It
was something like 80 degrees.
We have overnight lows in the 80s at times in the summer.

Those are our overnight lows, if we're lucky.
It was 95 Monday, then cooled to only 91 Tuesday and yesterday it was
only in the upper 80s. Brr. I may have cleaned and put away those winter clothes too soon.

Yes and no.

But all seriousness aside, as Steve Allen used to say, I can see both
good and bad in all this.
I prefer CD/DVD for long term storage. With a USB it is far to easy to delete something that wasn't meant to be deleted. At least if its on the HD its in the trash and can be retrieved.
I use USB's all the time for short term storage, or transfer/access on
the pc or laptop and back again.
I do use a cloud for some things, but also have a copy on a
thumb/CD/DVD/HD.
Plus with the prices of CD/DVD's as cheap as they are I will have
multiple backups for things that can't be replaced in case one fails, which has happened.
I prefer keyboards over touch screens for text.
I have two tablets: one has a detachable keyboard, the other hasn't.
These are fine for general surfing, videos, etc. But that tablet
keyboard is to small with my fat fingers...
I have little experience with iOS, other than my phone. My pc/laptop
are Win10, the tablets android.
But I use Win10 97 per cent of the time. Maybe 98.5 per cent of the
time.
But this is a good question and maybe start a discussion.

That happens sometimes even in busier echos, when the timing is just
off... And when it's a quieter echo like this one, it doesn't take much
for there not to be anything to answer, so no new messages....

As for me... life keeps throwing too many draining days at me, and
answering messages gets lower on the priority list...... I'm trying to
keep up, but I'm currently running about a week behind.... sigh...
