Well, I have risen to a point I am happy to stay at. I have time, seniority, some rank and comfy. I have no desire to take another step
up on the corporate ladder.
But I do enjoy looking down at all the little people. :)
And, after all... now you are retired... and don't even need to go in to work...
except when they are desperate..
a few times a week... <G>

except when they are desperate..
Uh, would you like to rephrase that? :)
a few times a week... <G>
This week the older woman where I toil mightily on weekends, keeping
that chair warm, is scheduled for five full days this week. I just
wonder what day she will call off and my phone rings...
And its generally inside, warm and dry. :)
Definitely a nice perk of being desired even though you are in
retirement... ;)

There are a lot worst places I could be. :)
I take my laptop and such and settle in for the day, doing pretty
much what I would be doing at home, only getting paid for it. :)
And the extra money goes directly into savings.

Oddly enough, no.
Generally when I get a call in its between 6 and 6.30, so I'm not
too involved in anything at home. The latest call I ever got was
around 7 and had to be there at 8.

You do have it cushy... ;)

I guess some weeks she'd have to manage to get there every day...
around 7 and had to be there at 8.
And of course you managed to accomplish that... ;)

And I know it!

She was scheduled M-F last week.
I expected a call Wednesday, and nothing.
Thursday, nothing.
Friday morning I was expecting the phone to ring and nothing.
Around 7 I started pushing my luck and took out my contacts for their weekly deep cleaning and nothing.
I was in shock and awe. She actually put in a full week...

Since I live about 15 minutes away getting there with less than an
hours notice is usually no problem. Of course I'm sometimes grumbling
and mumbling the whole way. :)
You do have it cushy... ;)
And I know it!
And enjoy every minute of it.... ;)

That was indeed impressive... :) Guess her husband is doing pretty
well, then, to not need her home... :)
grumbling and mumbling the whole way. :)
But of course.... That's part of the routine.... <G>

I was talking to my captain Sunday who said Charlie is getting to be
a bit too much for her and thinking he may need to go to a home where
he can get better care. Betty is 80 and not in the best of health herself.

And I'm pretty good at it. :)
Joe (who has whining down to a science)
she'd both have the time and probably the need tokeep working as long as she can... Good thing it's such a cushy job... :)

We are really only there in case an alarm goes. Otherwise we really
have nothing to do.
Betty has been there so long, I joke she was sitting there and they
put the building up around her, and knows everyone.
If a visitor comes in asking for so-and-so I have no idea where they
are. She can tell them to almost within a yard where that person is at any given moment. I just send them to the offices on the third floor
if they don't have a phone number.
She also walks very slowly due to her age. There's a joke among us
that if the fire alarm went off someone would have to help _her_ out
the building. :)
Its only due to insurance reasons/costs we are even there. Just in
case. SO far so good.

I have always told people who were whining about something they
couldn't beat me, I had it down pat and the biggest whiner around.
Usually this has to do with working in bad weather, hours, etc.
I didn't really enjoy it, but it's part of the job.
You do have it cushy... ;)

True... his job leaves plenty of time for him to keep an eagle eye on NB>things... ;)

They can complain about the way you do something, but when you ask
them if they want to do the work, since they apparently have better
ideas, they backpedal.

Oh, but they don't believe that "work" is in the job description... ;)

I plan to. The BBS, ham radio, and square dancing, as my hobbies, to
keep me sane...and to forget about the other crap going on.
