The United Nations General Assembly has overwhelmingly condemned Russia's "attempted illegal annexation" of four partially occupied regions in Ukraine, as Kyiv's allies announced the delivery of new military aid to the country.

    Key points:
Only four countries joined Russia in voting against the resolution Ч Syria, Nicaragua, North Korea and Belarus

Three-quarters of the 193-member General Assembly Ч 143 countries Ч voted in favour of a resolution that also reaffirmed the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders.

"It's amazing," Ukraine's UN Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya told reporters after the vote as he stood next to US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield, who said the result showed Russia could not intimidate the world.

Only four countries joined Russia in voting against the resolution Ч Syria, Nicaragua, North Korea and Belarus.

Thirty-five countries abstained from the vote, including Russia's strategic partner China, while the rest did not vote.

Bring up the UN vote on Israel, huh? Condemns it, but can't do anything about it. Period. Russia, as the legal successor of the USSR, can in principle denounce any territorial decrees of the USSR, didn't you know? The inviolability of Ukraine's borders was declared only and exclusively as part of the USSR. If you left - ok, leave the territories. And we also asked the population.

    Hi Alexander,

I would expected Cuba, Iran and a few others to have voted for Russia, USA has no influence over Cuba and Iran so your argument is hollow.

The five countries that did support Russia are not the tpye of countries one would even want to be associated with.

You've got a wild immagination ... probably there are some pills to help with that.

There is no imagination - the West has been engaged exclusively in lies at all levels for all centuries. And we knew this and sometimes played along so that you wouldn't get upset too much. Pills won't help you anymore ;)

That voting reminds me a funny telephone survey in Ukraine made by nationalists with the telephone address book. The question is "what
country do you like more - Ukraine or Russia?" We need you opinion to do
    our job better! ;=)
