    I made these for a friend's daughter's birthday party.

Some people really liked them. Others not so much.

Carob is carob. Chocolate is chocolate. For chocolate lovers, there is
nothing to take the place of chocolate. But many people expect carob,
because of remote similarities, to ring their Chocolate Chimes. That
is unfair. Let carob be itself--its genuine, sweet, subtle self. You
will discover it to have a charm and character of its own.

    Pre-heat oven to 350 F.

Whisk butter and carob together until free of lumps. Add eggs, syrup,
    honey or sugar, and vanilla.

Stir dry ingredients together, add, and mix. Add raisins and walnuts
and mix. Pour into buttered 8" square pan and bake 20-25 minutes.
    Cool before frosting.

    Icing #1:

Beat butter, egg, and carob until smooth. Add coffee powder, vanilla,
salt, and powdered sugar. Slowly add heavy cream. Beat until creamy.

    Icing #2:

Beat together carob, cream cheese, and coffee powder. Add maple syrup
    and vanilla.
