1/3 c Flour
3 Eggs; separated
1 ts Baking powder
1/2 c Brown sugar
1/4 ts Salt
1/2 ts Vanilla
1/4 c Nuts; finely chopped
1 c Dates; chopped

1/2 pt Heavy cream
1/4 ts Vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Butter and flour a 9" round cake pan.
Beat egg whites, with salt, until stiff.
Beat egg yolks with sugar until thick. Add vanilla and mix.
Add dry ingredients. Blend well. Mix in the dates.
Fold egg whites into batter. Pour into pan and bake for 40 to 50
minutes.
When cool, turn upside-down on a serving plate. The center of the
torte will fall slightly, leaving a little ridge around the edge.
Whip the heavy cream and vanilla. Fill the top of the torte with lots
of whipped cream.
