Did you get an inspection? When we sold our house, the buyers had an
inspector -- and he found mold. I don't know how it was corrected, but
our agent hired a professional to do it.

I don't know, but mold is usually the result of moisture over a period
of time. It is a serious problem.

We now live in an apartment. There was a water leak from the apartment
above us and as a result there was mold on the ceiling. They cut the
piece of drywall out and replaced it. They also told us to avoid going
into that room as much as possible until it was fixed.

OH, and welcome to the COOKING echo.

    Title: Easy New York Cheesecake
    Categories: Tested, Easy, Dessert
    Yield: 6 Servings

    12 oz Whipped cream cheese
    1/2 c Sugar
    2 lg Eggs
    1/2 ts Vanilla
1/8 ts Lime OR lemon juice
    1 ea Prepared regular size
    Graham cracker crust

    MMMMM--------------------------TOPPING-------------------------------
    1 1/2 tb Sugar
    8 oz Sour cream
    1/2 ts Vanilla
1/8 ts Lime OR lemon juice

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees

In large bowl blend cream cheese and sugar with an electric mixer.
Add egg then vanilla and lime juice OR lemon juice. Pour mixture
    into ready made crust.

Place in oven and bake 40 - 45 minutes or until firm. Remove from
oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes.

As cheesecake is cooling, in a medium bowl beat the topping
ingredients until well blended. Pour evenly over the pie and spread
evenly. Place pie back into oven and bake an additional 5 minutes.

Cool, then refrigerate 6 hours before serving.

This recipe can be doubled easily - use two regular size graham
cracker crusts - the larger crusts would be too large.

Tested 1/12/12 - Very easy and good flavor. Will make again.

Here's a good place to educate yourself on the subject - which I got
to doing a Bing search on "removing black mold". I already knew about
using common kitchen chemicals like white vinegar, peroxide and Chlorox.
But I learned a lot more about the subject.

Plus "The Spruce" is one of my favourite up-market recipe sites. And,
guess what? Some black mold is edible (and tasty).

    Title: Quesadillas w/Huitlacoche con Queso
    Categories: Vegetables, Mushrooms, Breads, Cheese
    Yield: 4 servings

    2 c Fresh huitlacoche
    2 tb Cooking oil
    1/2 c Diced onion
2 c Fine ground masa harina
    1 1/4 c Cold water
    1/2 ts Salt
    2 c Queso blanco

Recipe courtesy of La Familia d'Espinosa

Cut huitlacoche off corncob and dice. Heat a medium
saute pan with oil, add onions cook until soft. Add
huitlacoche saute until tender, about 5 minutes.

In a medium bowl combine the masa harina, water, and
    salt and stir until smooth.

The dough should be slightly sticky and form a ball when
pressed together. To test, flatten a small ball of dough
between your palms. If the edges crack, add water, a
tablespoon at a time until a test piece does not crack.

Place a small ball of dough between two pieces of waxed
paper and press or roll into a small tortilla.

Folding the raw dough, make a pocket, and fill with a
tablespoon each of Sauteed huitlacoche and queso blanco.
Seal the edge. Cook on grill for 5 minutes until golden
    brown.
