No, I was using a larger font in my offline message editor for medical reasons. My 60-year-old eyes have a hard time reading smaller fonts,
even with glasses. So please take things like that into consideration

I can remember the days when some BBS software on what are now "retro"
systems defaulted to ~40 chars/line. I am not sure what it would look like
if it got quoted a bunch of times in a reply thread, but the original and "first quoting" didn't break anything here.

Getting old sucks and sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

i have contact lenses the help me see far. and i have 1.5 and 3.0 readers that I have to switch out so i can read text or work on super small things at work.

Gives me headaches.

I'm on a Commodore 64 Ultimate and
for the most part I haven't had
issues but occasionally if
there are several levels of
quotes if can go off into the ether.

Ive been wearing progressives for several years now, it did take a litte time to get used to looking from side to side.
Now I love them, also got the lenses that go dark in the sun.

Progressives are a game-changer. My close-up vision is worse than my
distance, and I have some astigmatism. I've been wearing progressives
since 2006, I got my first pair at an optometrist in an old building on
the second floor, and my first steps with them were down an outdoor
wooden staircase. A bit harrowing, but as you mention, you learn to use
the zones of the lenses.

My mom got sick of switching glasses, so she got close up progressives
with no distance correction so she could wear them all the time.

So for me switching to wearing them all the time was just so much
easier.

This is pretty much my reasoning as well. My mother did the same as
your's, but for slightly different reasons. She always wore glasses and
after she had her eyes fixed with lasers and didn't need them my nephew
would get upset she didn't look right.

That leads to failing eyesight..

I started wearing them in high school. I got to where contacts were able
to correct one eye to 20/20 (expected) and the other to 20/15 or better
(better than expected). The Dr said that was supposedly due to the eye
shape thing.

Once I got into my 40s and started having the age-related close-distance
vision issues, that didn't seem to be as much of an advantage any more.
