    Hello everyone,

I just setup a personal BBS and hopefully have Dove-Net setup correctly. I used to run an Amiga C-Net BBS back in the day and to recreate the experience I setup a local phone network so I can dial-up into my BBS across the room with a modem. :) Please let me know if you can see my message.

    Thanks,
    Joe

Same - at least with Synchronet..... and it took me three or four times to figure out why my QWK packet FTP was failing - (because QWK ID is synonymous with user ID at VERT...... d'oh!

NUKE! So glad you chose Synchronet this time!

Been running it for over 22 years here at the Diamond Mine. Welcome aboard! And welcome back to BBSing! :)

Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome! I bought a broken IBM PCJr and am using its case for my BBS server. It had a 5.25 flopping drive that I removed and replaced with a black hard drive faceplace with a LED drive activity light. Fun little project.

Sounds interesting.. So do you have modern PC components in the PCJr case?

Sounds like ONE way to put a modem back to use.

Got it fine via my boss/point arrangement.

Yes, I have a fanless Mini PC, that I purchased for $80 on Amazon, inside the PCJr case. It has an Intel Atom processor, 4 USB ports
and a HDMI connect connector. It is running
Windows 10. I have that sitting inside of the case with an external USB hub that I hook to wireless keyboard and mouse. I also hav
it connected to a serial cable and a USB to SATA adapter. People give the Mini PC bad reviews because it is slow but it is perfect
    for running a BBS.

One thing I forgot to mention is the look I was trying to go for. My first hard drive was a Xetec Lt. Kernal 20MB. It was in an
external drive enclosure that looks very close to the PCJr case. Now days, the drive is rare and expensive. However, I stumbled
across the PCJr at a computer museum in Kennett Sqaure, PA. It fit the bill of what I was looking for and I could get a broken
one for a fair price. The case is wonderful because it doesn't use any screws, everything snaps together so I can open it up
quickly to get to the components I put in there. I will share a picture in the future since it is still a work in progress.
