• Microsoft Attacking its Own Partners

If Microsoft is Still Attacking Even Its Very Own Partners, Why Believe It
    Will Treat GNU/Linux Any Better?

Summary: Microsoft Partner Network (MPN) debacles serve to show that
Microsoft is as untrustworthy as ever; those who invite Microsoft to join
Linux aren't helping anyone but Microsoft

An article mentioned in passing and added to our daily links over the weekend merits special attention. A reader has just sent us one more report on this subject [1] and it's worth taking it into account now that we're told "Microsoft loves Linux" (which Microsoft considers to be the biggest competition and called for a "Jihad" against). Yes, the word "Jihad" was used by Bill Gates.

The short story is, Microsoft is squeezing some of its closest partners and
it recently did the same to CERN (hiking costs tenfold!); if this is what Microsoft does to friends, then just imagine what it's planning to do to
    actual rivals.

Hours ago (just earlier today) we mentioned a couple more reports (in our
daily links) [2,3] from Microsoft apologists - both connected to the Linux Foundation - who eagerly open the door to Microsoft's control over Linux. Little by little, Microsoft seizes greater control/power over its
competition. This way Microsoft also controls the narrative. "The "Linux"
links these days are all Microsoft spam," one reader told us, "with only a few exceptions. With the help of Google and its search engine, Microsoft is doing to Linux and GNU/Linux what it did to VistA." (VA's FOSS, not Windows)

Before destroying Novell Ron Hovsepian said "Microsoft Corp is using scare tactics to exert pressure on PC vendors not to explore the potential of desktop Linux..."

GNU/Linux is the "most potent operating system competitor," according to Bill Gates, who now shifts his attention to Android (lots of puff pieces about it earlier this month). ZDNet, a prime promoter of the "Microsoft loves Linux"
lie (they're big Microsoft advertisers with Microsoft staff among them), published an article entitled "What if Microsoft had invented Android?" only
    2 days ago.

Microsoft hates Android. Watch what it's doing to Android/inside Android [4] (other than patent blackmail which carries on) and see older coverage (last week) about Microsoft Partner Network (MPN): "Microsoft's worst move in 30 years" [5]. Microsoft has not changed; only the PR strategy has changed somewhat. They pretend to be friends or in love with whatever they attack, usually from the inside.

What does Bill Gates have to do with Microsoft (M$) at all these days?

Hours ago (just earlier today) we mentioned a couple more reports (in our daily links) [2,3] from Microsoft apologists - both connected to the
Linux Foundation - who eagerly open the door to Microsoft's control over Linux. Little by little, Microsoft seizes greater control/power over its competition. This way Microsoft also controls the narrative. "The "Linux" links these days are all Microsoft spam," one reader told us, "with only
a few exceptions. With the help of Google and its search engine,
Microsoft is doing to Linux and GNU/Linux what it did to VistA." (VA's FOSS, not Windows)

I find anything that comes from M$ is just spam with no real information. Because I have a MSDN license at work I get MSDN news emails weekly and even they are mostly worthless news updates. Their ads are terrible and non informative -- it's like they don't even target tech people -- just the managers with the money hoping someone bites.

GNU/Linux is the "most potent operating system competitor," according to Bill Gates, who now shifts his attention to Android (lots of puff pieces about it earlier this month). ZDNet, a prime promoter of the "Microsoft loves Linux" lie (they're big Microsoft advertisers with Microsoft staff among them), published an article entitled "What if Microsoft had

Ask the Windows Phone users -- if you can find any.

They have just become the mega corporation they tried to rise above when they started as a small group. I don't think any of that exists any more. The company as a whole stopped caring (if they ever did) a long time ago.

    Funny kind of related anecdote:

I have a friend that I work with that is part of the design team. They have recently issued him and his team Apple Macbooks while the company is a
primary Windows desktop company. Most of the projects they help with are C# based web projects so they attempted to use Visual Studio for Mac and attempt to connect to the TFS servers are at work (M$'s source control).

In order to connect Visual Studio for Mac to a TFS server it requires an extension and they were having problems being able to connect. On the
extension web page at the very top they suggest if you are using a Mac to instead use GIT vs TFS -- basically stating you can attempt to connect to TFS but we highly advise it.

I know they recently purchased github.com but I found it funny that M$ at the top of their own TFS extension plug-in for VS for Mac they advice to not use their own TFS source control -- well since all our code is there they have no other option. And the TFS extension has nothing but problems trying to
connect to a TFS server -- a bunch of errors (sometimes truncated) just
filling out simple details like the TFS server host name and credentials but nothing helpful when there are problems.

In the end we all decided the best option was for them to just have parallels installed with Windows and Visual Studio for Windows.

M$ keeps trying to establish themselves into other markets and failing and probably do not see what the problem is on their end. If the products don't work in other OS's as expected why would you expect them to stay?

We also have some new projects using .NET CORE which is SUPPOSED to work
under linux based OS's -- but I do not expect nor trust it to actually work. And I am sure troubleshooting any issues is a nightmare. But they already market these things like they will work.

I still use M$ desktop at home primarily for gaming but trust / hope in M$ is nowhere near what it was years ago. Windows 7 is probably they best they ever did for end users and we already hear about the Windows 10 horror stories. I have already had to fix some peoples personal laptops that just got stuck in infinite Windows 10 update loops and that itself was a pain in the ass. The
fix -- manually update some files to try ONE update at a time to see which
    one failed... F U M$.

Which reminds me of another fun anecdote if you are still reading -- one of
our business leaders sent an email on Agile development and pointed out to
this YouTube video of something that should never be released to end users: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BB6wj6RyKo

No need to watch the video -- just the video description details which I will paste here:
