I've never used AreaFix before, but I want to use it to remove SCISTATS from Scinet. But I'm confused about some stuff.

I understand that I'm going to construct a message like this:
    To: AreaFix
    Subject: (my areafix password)
    Body of the message: -SCISTATS

But which message base do I post this in? The one I want modify? Or do I need to create a netmail message base specifically for scinet? If that's the case, what do I put for echotag?

I'm sure I could just ask Netsurge to remove an echo, but I want to learn how to do self-service so I can do this on other nets that I'm on too.

    Thanks!

You would post it into your Netmail base and address it to AreaFix at your uplink's network address.

Probably the easiest way to do it if you're using Mystic is to go into your Message Base Editor and highlight the SCISTATS base, then enter /U to Unsubscribe. If your network is configured properly Mystic will automatically generate and send the Areafix request to unsubscribe for you, and it will also offer to remove the message base for you too.

You can do the same for file bases too if you subscribe to networked file bases.

Excellent. For some reason I was under the impression that the NETMAIL echo
tag only pertained to Fidonet, but now I realize that it's intended to serve all my netmail needs.

    You're the best!

    Thanks!

It has to be a netmail message sent to 77:1/100 in this case.
