• Waiting for busy nodes

From Shitty@77:1/100 to All on Tue Dec 15 21:19:48 2020
Ever since I changed web hosts for my BBS, I started having a new unusual problem with Mystic. I ran fidopoll, and I got the mutil screen and it said:
    "Waiting for BUSY nodes."

I read in one of the whatsnew.txt files that this message was added so people "wouldn't think mutil locked up" but I'm confused because it seems like it's locked up. It never takes this long to import echomail.

To try to solve the issue, I used nodespy to verify that no users were ghosted (not sure if that was necessary) and then I tried deleting files in the semaphore folder, but then I tried fidopoll again and I got the message still ("Waiting for busy nodes.")

    I'm still using Mystic a45.

I suck at handling echomail! But I enjoy it. I'm open for any suggestions.

    Try:

    ./mis poll killbusy

Thanks. I tried that, then I realized that I screwed up my message bases after changing paths in them. That fixed that issue..

But now I have a new issue: The echomail that I export from my BBS isn't showing up on Scinet. I checked my mutil log, and it said
    "Results 1 echo, 0 net, 0 skipped"
But the message never made its way here to Scinet.

If you had that issue, what things would you check into?

I reviewed my mutil.ini. Semicolons are where they should be, and under [General] I have everything set to "false" except for ImportEchoMail & ExportEchoMail. (Those are "true")

In the [ExportEchoMail] section I have skip_online=true, and I'm exporting while no users are online.

Do you have anything in mystic/echomail/out/scinet.04d?

Could be that it's just queuing up & not going out? If that's the case maybe run ./mis poll send and see if it sends anything out.

If there's nothing there, maybe check with your hub to see if they're getting your packets but they're not being processed for some reason. (Packet password?)

Thanks a lot and it's all good now. I will save a screenshot of this message
in case it happens again, but so far it seems to be from me not configuring mutil.ini properly.

You were right about this all along. I was confused about the difference between session passwords, (that's what Argus people call it) PKT passwords, TIC passwords, etc. When it comes to echomail, I'm just a total lamer.

The issue is resolved now. I got the hub coordinator to give me a session password because it seems like Mystic doesn't import -by default- unless you have one.

Thanks for your help! Looking back, that message of yours that I'm quoting had the answer I needed, but I just didn't understand what all these passwords
    were for.

My hub coordinator (whatever they're called) probably thinks I'm dumb as hell. But she's cool and she had patience for my lamer ways.

Now I'm well on my way towards becoming one of those bitter elderly Fidonet guys who bitches about everything.

LOL - Just as long as you don't become one of the ones who scrutinizes kludge lines. At that point you might as well just start yelling at childen to get off your lawn. ;)
