From Rick Smith@77:1/130 to All on Tue Apr 7 12:57:42 2020
    Greetings,

I have been trying for weeks to get connected to DoRENET, I get authorization failed when polling. I have double and triple checked everything that I have setup is correct. DM when asked says that everything on his end is how I put it on the application but without checking whether or not he made a typo is a little frustrating but oh well. However I was just going to try and send a netmail to his areafix as he claims he can poll my system, when I enter into the netmail area for dorenet and enter areafix in the to: field it then
prompts me for node address I enter it and then it shows me his two nodes so
I enter it again and it keeps showing me his two nodes it never lets me proceed... Any ideas what I can check?

    Regards,

    Nitro

Let us see if we can sort this out.

Can you post a log snippet of the error?

If you are members of the same networks and don[t use the same binkp password without using the hide akas option, you can get password errors. Let us say
you guys both had SciNet nodes and dorenet nodes. If one of the systems sees
a 77:* aka it might try to form a connection with that aka instead of the dorenet one. That is why the hide aka feature is handy. Have you tried
    turning that one on?

I have hide akas on, I have set it up just as instructed and like I have the other three networks setup, I have reached out and asked for verification and all I get in response is, "its like it was on your app" I verified my app and my settings... Not sure that I can do anything further from my end, and he appears maybe hes too busy to discuss?

It is definitely a password error. BinkP passwords are case sensitive. Maybe
he added it all uppercase or lowercase?

Yep, I requested all UC and I have it all UC on my end, thats exactly what I asked him to verify...

Have you tried lowercase? I don't remember if you can ramp up the log level
in Mystic to see exactly where it fails but that is another idea.

Ive tried it both ways.. I have all my logs set to debugging so it gives me
all I can get... It would be more specific on hub side or atleast it is when
my other machine polls this one. I gave DM sysop access to my BBS so that he can see my settings? Apparently thats easier than just checking his logs and verifying its a password error..

On the bright side I guess we all have a ton of time on our hands

    Hello Netsurge

Not to butt in but it goes beyond that, I had Tony Try upper case, then lower
case and then another password upper case, then lower case.

I was thinking last night about it wonder in fidopoll and then use mis to see
if that would change to a good connections.

Hell I even did the same as him deleting the network 2 times and still it
    didn't work.

I never asked him does the other networks connect? With me I had no trouble
with the other networks. Also how about no password and no cram-md5 or with it on both sides?

    Just some thoughts...

I don't know what to say. Maybe see if you can get a feed from someone else

Thanks man but I'm go to go, the only feed I need is one: get a fido node
number. Maybe one day before I die!

    Thanks for the thought though.

Where are you located? I know that Nick just replaced one of the RCs as he
has been MIA for a while, might be in your neck of the woods and I know the
new RC and he is a solid guy.
