• Strager Things

From Netsurge@77:1/100 to All on Fri Jul 5 20:10:36 2019
The wife and kids are out for the evening and I finally have some time to
start the latest season of Stranger Things.

As someone who was born in the mid 70s and grew up in the 80s, the Stranger Things universe brings back great memories of Radio Shack walkie talkies, arcades, great music and regrettable fashion choices.

Personally I think the series as a whole is a fitting homage to Steven Spielberg and his classic run on Movies from the 80s.

Easily one of the greatest shows of our time, one that really put streaming content on the map.

    Thoughts?

Agree with all of the above. I was born in 79 so missed experiencing the 70s but Stranger Things is one of the few shows of recent times that truly
captures the 80s. You can see it in the homes with the walls, carpet and furniture. Things I completely forgot about until seeing again on that show.

The crazy part is the Duffer Brothers did not even experience growing up in
the 80s. The learned all of it from watching 80s movies and TV shows but somehow able to capture it like nobody else has recently.

I have not started season 3 yet -- I am think I am halfway through Season 2
of DARK and I just need to finish that first before putting my focus and attention on Stranger Things. Which BTW holy crap every episode something drastically new is discovered in DARK -- especially this second season.

Really hoping Season 3 is good for Stranger Things -- it's going to be tough not watching it right away while the rest of the world is so will be avoiding the Internet for spoilers :)

My wife, who also grew up in the 80s, watches it with me. We notice little things, like boxes of soap and toothpaste that is on store shelves. These
items use the same packaging from the 80s. It is a great touch.

I consumed the latest season of DARK in one road trip. I travel a lot for
work, when I was done what I needed today while away, I would rush back to
the hotel room, order room service and watch DARK. Fantastic series.

I won't offer up any spoilers, but Season 3 of Stranger Things is easily
hands down the best season they have done to date.
